Tomb Raider: Anniversary
This was a "re-make" (released in 2007) of the very first game in the Tomb Raider series.
Level 1: Mountain Caves
Two cut scenes, explaining current circumstances, precede the actual start of the game. The second one (circa 1996) shows Jacqueline Natla on screen as she greets Lara, telling her that Natla Technologies studies ancient artifacts and that Lady Croft is exactly the person to find what they're looking for, ... the Scion of Atlantis. Lara and her father had been searching for this artifact for a long time. The only missing piece of the puzzle was the location of Qualopec's Tomb. Lara seems surprised that Natla has found Vilcabamba. Natla asks her how quickly she can get to Peru.
(Note: In this game, there are many checkpoints along the way. Whenever Lara dies, the last checkpoint usually is loaded.)
Lara starts this first level on some snowy rocks. Head straight ahead and vault up onto the rocks. Jump to grab a narrow ledge ahead of you. Now shimmy to the right and around a corner. Once you reach the end, jump to grab the next ledge on the right and continue to shimmy until you see a big rock behind you. Jump up to grab it and pull up. Over on her left is a ledge that you can jump to. Jump over and climb on the next stone ledge. Jump to grab the narrow ledge on the left, then jump to grab the one above. Now pull up.
See the gold ring above and to the left? Jump off the ledge and use the grapple to catch it. Swing over to the other side and press "jump" to release the grapple, landing on the bridge. Head up the steps on the right. A short cut scene now shows the huge closed doors and focuses in on a ledge above it.
You need to get to that ledge, so head up the rocks on the left and jump to grab the ledge ahead. Pull up and use the grapple to catch the ring above and to the right. Jump off the ledge, and while you're in the air, use the grapple. Swing, then jump over to land on the ledge at the other side. If necessary, grab it and pull up. Jump to grab the ledge on the left, traverse over to your left. Jump to grab the ledge above you. Shimmy to the left. Once you reach the end, jump to land on the ledge above the doors. Now use the button you see there.
A cut scene shows the huge doors opening. Lara's guide sees something. Four wolves run out of the cave and lunge to attack him. Lara jumps from the ledge, shooting at the wolves on her way down. Once she manages to kill the wolves, she sees that her friend is dead. After she enters the cave, the doors close behind her.
Now continue into the passage until she steps on a large pressure plate that triggers a dart trap just beyond. You can get past the darts by stopping just before you get to them, then running once they go off. It is possible to deactivate the trap though. In order to do that, just turn to face the direction you came from and notice two switches above. One switch is on the right, and the other is on the left hand side. To get to them, jump up to grab the narrow ledge on the right, then jump for the next one. Shimmy left and around the corner, jump to grab the upper ledge and then jump to grab the first switch. Once you pull it, jump to grab the ledge behind you. Shimmy to the left, around the corner, and press the "crouch" button to release and grab the second switch. With both switches pulled, the darts are deactivated. Drop to the ground now, and safely make your way through the passage.
In the next area, head up the stairs on the right, go across the wooden ledge and jump to grab the opposite side. Pull up, go to the left and jump to the next wooden ledge. Before heading to the left, turn to face the way you came in and look to see the ledge above you. Jump to grab the ledge and pull yourself up. Contnue to the end and jump to the next ledge. Head around to the right, then jump to grab the edge of a small passage ahead. Pull up and go over to the other side. Jump to the next ledge, take care not to slide to the ground here. You can use the ramp to slide a bit, but make sure that you jump before you reach the end, then grab the opposite ledge. Now pull yourself up and collect the artifact. Go over to the other side of the ledge. Jump to grab the narrow ledge ahead of you. Shimmy to the left around the corner, then drop to the ground below.
Now you enter a second cave, a bit higher than the one before it. Once you reach the fork ahead, three bats will attack you. Shoot them, then go to the left of the fork. See the small alcove on the right? To get there, climb up on a nearby rock and jump to grab the edge. Pull up and vault onto the next ledge. Now pick up the large medipack. Head back to the fork and continue over to the other side of the cave. Draw your guns again and kill three more bats that come toward you.
Now you come to an area with a large rock in the middle. The slide of course takes you down, but before going there, go for a secret. If you slide down, you can always return back here for the secret. In order to do that, use the narrow ledges in the back right corner of the bottom area. You can jump at the top of the slide, or slide down a ways then jump. Then, while in midair, use the grapple to catch the gold ring above you. Now stop swinging and hold down the "interact" button. With this key depressed, press "up" to climb up the grapple line. Once you see the narrow ledge ahead of you, swing and jump to grab it. Shimmy over to the left and jump to grab the ledge above you. Jump to grab the ledge behind, release for the lower ledge, then shimmy to the right. After you reach the end, jump to grab the edge of the alcove behind. Pull up and gather up the artifact from behind the rocks. Hang from the edge of the alcove to get down, then shimmy to the left. Release to grab the lower ledge. Drop to the ground and draw your guns as two bats will attack you. Now drop down to the lower area that leads to another switch. Use it to open a nearby door.
Head through the door and go down the steps, then follow the passage to reach an area with two wooden bridges. Go to the right. As you approach a stone block, you'll hear some growling. There's a cave below. Two wolves are on the prowl in the pit, so be ready. If you cross the bridge, it will collapse under your feet. You need to cross it anyway, but it seems like a trap if the wolves are still alive when you do so. They'll attack as soon as you reach the ground. After they're dead, look for another cave at the other end of the pit. It contains a small medipack for you. Exit the cave.
You'll spot the third artifact in a small alcove on yor left. It's a little high up though, and you can't quite reach it. Don't waste time going after it now, you can get it later. You can now use the broken part of the bridge as a ladder. Climb up and reach the other side of the area. Go to your right then jump to grab the ledge on the wall. Now jump to grab the edge above you and pull up. Before you cross the second bridge, turn and notice the alcove behind you with a small medipack. To get it, you need to use the narrow ledges on the two pillars to the left. After you get the medipack, head back to the second bridge again.
Go across the second bridge and continue to the left. Climb on the ledge above to reach the area with pillars, a rope and pit. Don't use the rope yet, work your way along the narrow ledges on the right to land on a block in the back, right corner of the pit. Now a bear will emerge from the alcove. Stay where you are and kill it. If it doesn't come out, you'll have to jump down and lure it out. Once you kill the bear, enter the alcove it came from and activate the switch to open a nearby door. This is timed, but it's slow, so you shouldn't have any problems passing through the door. Drop down to the ledge below and gather up the artifact. Below is where the two wolves attacked you before. Make your way back to the rope.
Head to the left side of the pit and jump to grab the edge of the alcove to get the large medipack. If you keep falling, you'll can try using the rope here. Notice, however, that you need to build up your momentum in order to reach (grab) the edge of the alcove. When you get the medipack, drop down and use the stone block in the corner to go back up again. Grab the rope, this time swing and jump to the opposite side. Go to the far left corner and find another large medipack behind the pillar. Now go down the ramp and follow along the passage. The next set of steps take you to a pit with some greenery. Don't worry if you fall, since you can easily climb back up. Jump to grab the horizontal pole on your left, swing and jump to land on the stairs opposite you. Make your way along the next two ledges and follow the passage.
Go past the dart trap, carefully, to reach the other side. Here you'll find the exit door, which you have to open. Stepping on the pressure plate, the camera will show the door's wooden bar moving and focus on the locks up above. Now to open the door, you have to remove the two locks. Use the narrow ledges on your left to reach the highest one. Look on the left and you will see a passage, ... but don't head that way yet. See the mechanism on the right? To reach it, jump to grab the ledge opposite the way you came in. Jump to grab the upper ledge, then traverse to your right and around the corner. When you reach the end, jump to grab the mechanism. Lara's weight will lower it and remove the first lock. Go through the passage, but have your guns drawn, since a wolf will attack you from the opening up ahead. Once you've killed it, head through the opening and go to the end. Turn left to spot three horizontal poles, use them to reach the opposite side. Another wolf will attack you at the next opening, but this time it's not alone! A second wolf will join in, so stay frosty.
Up at the end of the passage you'll see a second mechanism that removes the second lock. In order to reach it, vault up onto the rock to your right, then climb up the next two narrow ledges. Jump to grab a horizontal pole behind you and wait for it to turn about ninety degrees. Once it does, swing on the pole and jump to grab the mechanism. Just like the last one, Lara's weight will lower it, ... removing the second lock. Now drop to the ground and step on the pressure plate to open the door.
Before you leave, head back to the second mechanism (the long way). Vault on the rock (like you did before) and again climb up the next two narrow ledges. Now jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you (this is tricky), and immediately press "jump" again (when the pole has turned about forty-five degrees) to release the pole. Then grab the narrow ledge on the opposite wall. Traverse to your left. When you reach the end, jump to grab the lower pole. Remember, stepping on the plate opens the door, and this extends the poles. Lara won't be able to reach the lower one if you don't do this. Now grab the opposite narrow ledge, and move a little to the right and swing on the pole. Jump to grab the ledge, jump for the upper one and jump to grab a second pole behind you. Swing and jump to grab the narrow ledge on the other wall. Finally, climb on the ledge above. Gather up the Killer Whale Bottleand make your way back the same way you came. Once you reach the lower pole, drop down to the ground. Now head through the doors to end the level.
Level 2: City of Vilcabamba
Head up the stairs and ready your guns. A bear will charge through the opening, so kill it. Follow along the passageway that leads you to a pit with two vertical columns. Jump to grab the first one column and climb to the bottom. Now release to drop to the ground, then turn and go behind the rock where you'll find a small medipack. Go over to opposite side of the pit. You can't grab the second column from the bottom here, but you can step on its base and jump to grab the narrow ledge to the right. Jump for the upper one, then jump to grab the column. Climb up a bit and jump to the other side.Continue through an open door to reach the City of Vilcabamba. Go through the passage around to the left and head down the stairs. Get your pistols out and be ready to start shooting at the two wolves before they reach you. Once you've killed them, go over and head down the next set of stairs. Another bear will soon appear from behind of one of the buildings, so be ready for it. There's a closed door on the right, .... you'll need a key to open it.Jump into the pool and swim to the bottom where you will find a small medipack. You'd better surface to get some air and dive again. Look for an opening and swim through. Follow along the tunnel that will bring you to an underwater lever, pull it to open a trapdoor above you. Surface there and climb out of the water. You are now inside of one of the buildings. You can use the switch to open the door and gain direct access to the outside area. Head up the wooden stairs to reach a window. Jump to the window of the opposite building and run on an old wooden ramp, then jump at the end to grab the edge of the alcove. Pull yourself up and gather up the small medipack. If you should miss the jump, you can always use the movable cage below. Push the cage beneath the alcove. Now drop to the ground and notice the metal circular lock on the wooden gate. Activate "manual aim" and shoot the lock to open the gate. This gives you access to the outside area. Before heading back outside, push the movable cage inside the next room again. Go to the back of the room and pick up the shotgun ammo you find there. Go to the left and pick up the village key from the alcove. Now return to the cage, climb up on it, then climb onto the ledge above. Make your way around to the left and pick up the small medipack and shotgun ammo. Now drop down to the ground.
Push the cage into the first room, then outside of the building. Position it next to the vertical column, located opposite the stairs you came from when you first came into this area. Climb up on the cage and jump onto the base of the column. Now grab the column and climb to the top, then jump to the stone ledge. Have your guns at the ready to kill the two bats that attack you. Jump to grab the horizontal pole, swing and jump to grab the stone ledge ahead. Pull yourself up on the ledge. You can now use the grapple to catch the ring above. Swing and jump to grab the narrow ledge on the other side. Make your way around to the left and jump to grab the pole. Jump for the next one, then jump to grab the top of the waterfall. A couple of bats will attack you here, so shoot them. Gather up the other artifact. Jump on the roof of the nearby building and slide down to reach the ground unharmed. Use the Key to open the door. Draw your guns again, as you are about to get unwanted company. Two wolves will come out, so back off and kill them. Upon entering the next area, a third wolf will attack from the right. Kill it and head up the stairs. You need to open the door and to do that, you have to follow both doorways. It doesn't matter which one you visit first.
Head through the doorway on the left and go up the stairs to reach a room with a pool. Follow the walkway to the left. Jump to grab the ledge ahead. Now jump to grab the narrow ledge on the wall, traverse to the right and jump to grab the next one. Shimmy to the right and jump to grab the ledge behind you. The last jump is a little longer, so you may need to press the "interact" button to help Lara when she grabs the ledge. Pull up and go through the opening to the left. Go up the ramps and shoot the three bats when you reach the top. Jump to grab the opposite ledge and pull up onto it. Exit to the ledge on the other side and jump to grab the horizontal pole of the pillar. Her weight on the pole will rotate the pillar, which will then place a kind of key on the door. Release and safely drop to the ground below.
When you go through the right hand doorway you will again reach a room with a pool. Jump into it and gather up the small medipack from the bottom. Surface and climb out of the water. See the walkway? Follow it and jump to grab the narrow ledge on the wall. Use the other ledges to reach the ledge in front of the opening. Head through it and up the ramps. At the top, shoot two more bats that attack you. Jump to grab the opposite ledge and pull up. Exit from the other side and jump to grab the horizontal pole of the pillar. Again, Lara's weight will rotate the pillar which then places another kind of key on the door. Both keys open the door. Drop down to the ground and go through it.
Follow alongthe passage that will bring you to a pit. You can use the narrow ledges on the left to get down. Shoot the wolf and pick up the shotgun ammo there. The ledge you came from is a liitle high, so push - pull the movable cage and position it beneath the ledge in order to climb back up. Now, jump to the ledge at the top of the slope. Slide down this slope and jump to grab the horizonatal pole you see. You may need to move a bit to your right, swing and jump to grab the ledge ahead. Pull up and jump toward the vertical structure. Lara will balance herself. Be careful here though. If she loses her balance, press the "interact" button to correct her. Then jump to the ledge ahead and continue left. Now you come to a second pit. Jump to the block on the other side and drop to the ground. Go over to the other side of the pit and climb on a stone block you will find there. Grab the crevice in the wall, shimmy to the right and jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you. Swing and jump to grab the crevice in the opposite wall. Now jump to grab the narrow ledge above. Work your way to the left and around the corner. Pull up, being careful of the dart trap there. Turn, jump to the vertical, thin, structure and jump to the ledge ahead (before Lara loses her balance). Now follow the passage to end the level.
Level 3: The Lost Valley
Exit through the opening up ahead to come to an area with a very large waterfall. Go to the right, two wolves are alerted. You can safely shoot them from above, or you can step on the broken stairs. Once you've dispensed with them, drop down and go to the far left where you'll find cog #1 (the first of 3). If you examine the area around you, you'll find a ladder just to the right of the waterfall that gets you to a ledge. This is where you can place the cog you just found, but don't go there until you find the second one. Instead, simply jump into the water and swim through the underwater tunnel you see. Once you surface, climb out of the water and pick up the small medipack. Head back outside the way you came in. You need to get to the top of the waterfall. Climb up the rocks close to where you found the cog. Jump to grab the narrow ledge on the wall, then jump to grab the upper one, shimmy to the left and around the corner. Now pull up. Climb onto the next ledge and pick up the shotgun ammo. Grab the right-hand ledge, jump to grab the one on the right, traverse around the pillar and jump to grab the ledge above. Pull yourself up and climb onto the next ledge.Continue to the right and through the small cave that runs along parallel to the water. At the exit, jump across the river to grab the ledge on the other side then pull up. Use the two narrow ledges on the right to reach a small wooden ledge. Turn and face the hanging small bridge, draw your guns. Aim for the part that holds the rope and shoot it. The bridge collapses to reveal a horizontal pole. Now jump to grab the narrow ledge on the wall, shimmy left and around the corner. Jump to grab the pole, swing and jump into the passage. Continue around to the right. Jump off the ledge and use the grapple in mid-air to grab the ring above. Swing and jump to the platform up ahead. Use the narrow ledges on the right hand pillar. Once you reach the highest one, jump to grab the ledge on the right. Pull up, then follow a short passage that takes you to a wooden bridge. Cross it and collect cog #2. Guess what? Two more bats will soon attack, so shoot them. Keep your guns drawn and shoot the gold ring that is holding the ropes of the bridge. They will shatter and create a ladder on the other side, making the gold ring accessible for the grapple. Don't do anything with these for now.
Head for the end of the ledge and jump to grab a rotating horizontal pole. Swing / jump to grab a small ledge on the wooden structure. When you reach the last ledge, jump to grab the edge of the opening you saw before. Follow along the passage and use the switch to open a gate elsewhere. This will give you the access to the level's relic, ... so be sure to use it! Don't drop down from here. Go back and hang from the edge of the opening. Shimmy to the right, then release to grab the upper ledge of the pillar. If you don't shimmy to the right, Lara will drop down by realeasing, .... thereby losing some health. In this case, climb the ledges of the pillar. Again, jump to grab the ledge opposite the pillar, pull up and go through the passage. Now hang from the edge where the wooden bridge used to be. Climb down until you see an opening on your right. Jump to grab its edge and pull up. Follow the tunnel and pick up the shotgun and large medipack. Return back to the opening (Lara cannot grab the edge of the opening on your way back) and drop into the water. The current will drag you and throw you into the pool at the bottom of the waterfall.
Now climb out of the water and draw your guns. Three wolves attack from a cave beyond, so run quickly and climb onto the rocks where you found the first cog. Kill them safely from here, then drop back down. Climb the wooden ladder, place one of the cogs you have and activate the switch. The mechanism will place the cog in its correct position. This will make the large wooden cogs work, giving you the access to the place where you need to use the other cog. The working wooden cogs have three poles on them. You can use them to reach the second ladder. Once you've done that, climb to the top and place the second cog in position. Use the switch. The mechanism again will place the cog in its correct position and then make the next wooden cogs work. This gives you access to the place where you need to use the third cog that you don't have right now.
Now grab the crevice next to the switch. Jump to grab the next crevice on the right. Shimmy to the right and around the corner. Jump to grab the narrow ledge above you. Finally, jump to grab the wooden platform behind you and pull up. A rotating wooden platform gets you to the area where you need to place the third cog, so don't go there quite yet. Turn and jump to grab the narrow ledge diagonally to the right. Go around to the right, then around the corner. Before going for the upper ledge, notice the opening below. Release to grab its edge and pull into it. Lara slides into a small room. Now climb on the wooden ledge and pick up the large medipack. The slope on the left will lead you back to the bottom of the area. You have to reach the narrow ledge before releasing for the opening, following the same way as before. Once you're there, jump to grab the ledge above and then jump to grab the rope you see. Now turn left and swing on the rope. Lara will need to gain enough momentum on this swing to reach the narrow ledge on the opposite wall.
When you grab it, make your way to the right and around the corner. Jump to grab the sill above the opening and drop down. Her weight will make the ladder fall, revealing a horizontal pole that you can use later. For now though, go through the opening and climb on the rock. Follow the passage and crawl under the rock to reach a room with a rock structure to the left. Get ready, as a bear will come around the rock structure. You can climb on the rocks for a breather, but the bear usually goes behind the structure, out of harms way, whenever you climb up there. Once you've killed it, climb on the rocks and make your way to the top of the structure where you will find some pistol ammo.
The retrieval of the artifact in the alcove is a little tricky. Drop to the ledge where the two vertical poles are. You have to jump on the wooden slope below, then jump to grab the narrow ledge on the structure. For the ledge, you have to land on just the right spot of the wooden slope, otherwise Lara drops to the ground. When you've reached it, traverse left and around the corner. Now jump to grab the edge of the alcove. Pull yourself up and collect the artifact.
Drop back down. Now make your way back to the ledge with the two poles. Grab the first pole and face the entrance of this area, so you can spot the two narrow ledges on the wall. Jump to grab the first ledge, then the second one. Jump on the first pole, then to the second one and finally to the wooden ledge ahead. Slide down to the next area and follow the passage. Head up the steps and pick up the shotgun ammo there. Go to the edge of the deep pit. It's a long way down, so take care. Jump on the wooden slope, slide down and jump to grab the opposite ledge. Shimmy to the right and jump to grab the wooden platform. Pull up and collect the shotgun ammo you find there. Jump to grab the horizontal pole, swing and jump to grab the ledge ahead. Use the next higher ledge to reach safe ground. Continue to the right and jump to grab the narrow ledge on the wall. Make your way to the left and around the corner, then jump to grab the ledge behind you. Approach the ledge on the right.
Draw guns and shoot the two bats that attack you. Now pick up the large medipack. As you hang from the edge of the pit, use the handholds to reach the alcove below. Pick up the large medipack. Use the ledges opposite the alcove to return up. Follow the ledge to its end and climb into a crawlspace that takes you to a passage that leads to a wooden platform. When you step on the platform, it falls apart and you slide into the next area. Proceed a bit to reach the Lost Valley.
When you reach the outside area, look for some pistol ammo on the right. Take note of the stone block to the left, ... it will become very useful later on. When you go a bit further into the valley, three raptors come from the left (they hunt in packs, like wolves). Run and jump on the stone block next to entrance. Kill them safely from there, then drop back down. Soon, three more raptors show up. Use the stone block again to shoot at them. A cut scene shows more raptors coming, but they aren't alone this time! The T-Rex makes her first appearance and the raptors try to escape, along with Lara.
T-Rex: Once the cut scene is over, Lara is found in the next area and the T-Rex is chasing her. You need to kill it of course, but it's strong enough so it will take quite a few shots. Unfortunately, there is not any safe ledge around the area, so prepare yourself for a fight. The yellow bar at the top of the screen is the creature's health, which means that it dies when the bar drops to zero. The other bar (red) indicates the enemy's "rage". When you shoot repeatedly, the bar starts filling, causing the T-Rex to become more enraged. In that case, it attacks and you can use the adrenaline dodge. The area is quite large, which means you have enough space to move around. But remember, there are three spiked rims in the area. You have to use these if you want to get rid of the creature quickly! Stand in front of each rim and shoot the T-Rex until it becomes enraged. When it attacks, use the adrenaline dodge. When making the adrenaline dodge try to hit her when the aiming target on the creature's head turns red... that way you will make a headshot at it. Make it crash into the spikes. You'll kill it much easier, and quicker, that way. Each spike takes a third of the T-Rex's life. When the T-Rex's health bar drops to zero, be prepared for a cut scene. You must press the correct buttons here to save Lara from the T-Rex. If all goes well, the creature will drop dead, thus destroying a part of the nearby Temple.
If you didn't grab it at some point during your fight with the T-Rex, be sure to collect the small medipack and two sets of pistol ammo. Head over to the right side of the temple, vault onto the low rock and jump on the ledge. Enter the temple and jump up on the ledge ahead to get cog #3. Now jump into the water and swim through the tunnel below. Surface at the end and climb out. Grab the vertical pole, climb up and jump to the ledge. Use the two ledges on the left wall and jump to grab the small crevice in it. Jump to the vertical pole. Quickly jump, before losing your balance, to grab the narrow ledge on the pillar, .... then the next one. Shimmy over to the left and jump to the opening. Vault on the ledge to the right and go to the front side where you'll see a small medipack.
Return and climb on the rocks next to the opening. Then climb onto the highest grey ledge that gets you to the other side. Now drop down and go to the other side of the ledge. Move around the perimeter of the area until you reach a vertical pole. Grab it, climb up a bit and jump to the passage. Continue to the end and jump to grab the narrow ledge. Work your way around the pillar, jumping and grabbing the ledges. Now, jump to land on the wooden bridge behind you. Head around to the right, but don't slide down the ramp just yet! The area below is the one where you first entered the valley.
If you didn't explore the valley earlier, you can go down now and collect a large and three small medipacks. Otherwise, you can jump to the wooden platform below, climb on the vertical pole, jump on the wall and drop down into the building where you'll find a small medipack. Now follow the passage and climb up the ledges to reach the broken wooden bridge. If you went down into the valley, climb on the stone block and jump on the platform (wooden). Jump to grab the ledge and go through the opening to enter the building. The left way leads to a small medipack, so once you get it, return and climb up the ledges to reach the wooden bridge (broken). Jump to grab the opposite side and pull up. The area just beyond includes a large medipack. Once you get it, return and use the narrow ledges on the right hand wall. These ledges will get you to the top of the wall and then to a rocky slope.
Jump over the slope to land on the opposite flat ledge. Drop to the low wall on the right, then to the area behind the wall. Collect the artifact, climb on the wall and drop down to the other side. Use the narrow ledges again to reach the top of the wall, next to the slope. Now jump onto the slope and slide down! Be sure to jump before reaching the end to land on a second slope. Then jump again to grab the horizontal pole. Swing, jump to grab the next pole and finally jump to grab the wooden platform. Pull yourself up, jump to the next platform and head through the opening. The passage will get you back to the deep pit you passed before. Be careful when you reach it. From the edge, slide down the slope and jump to grab the narrow ledge ahead. Jump to grab the ledge behind and release to grab the lower ledge. Make your way to the right and around the corner. Jump to the platform behind you. Make your way back the same way you came in. Use the wooden slopes and the various narrow ledges on the walls. Once you reach the other side of the pit, go down the steps.
Grab the vertical pole and jump onto the short wooden slope. Jump immediately on the pole, then into the opening ahead. Conversely, you can grab the vertical pole, climb to the top and jump to land on the second pole. Before sliding down the ramp, drop down into the room on the left. Here you'll find a small medipack. Climb back up, slide down the ramp and make your way to the ground. Follow the opening to return to the ledge that overlooks the area at the start of this level.
Turn to your left, jump to grab the horizontal pole, then swing and jump to the opposite side. From here, dive into the pool below. Surface and climb out of the water. You now have to go back to the wooden ledge next to the rotating wooden platform. Upon reaching this ledge, jump on the rotating platform. When it reaches the horizontal position, quickly jump to the ledge ahead. Place the third cog and activate the switch. The cog is placed in its correct position which then activates a huge stone breaker that stops the falling water. We now see an opening which was hidden behind the waterfall. From here, jump into the pool. Before you go through the opening, climb out of the water and head for the top of the waterfall. Crouch beneath the large wooden bar and drop into the water. There is no more current to sweep you away, so dive down and swim through the tunnel. Surface and climb out of the water. Pick up the kero mug and and make your way back to the pool (the same way you came). Exit the water, where the waterfall used to be, and go through the opening to end the level.
Level 4: Tomb of Qualopec
Follow the tunnel to a room with a pit. Jump over to the vertical structure. Now jump to grab the horizontal pole. Jump to the next two vertical structures, then to the ledge in the corner. Don't worry if you accidentally fall, you can climb back up using the ledges at the back and start over. Jump to grab the ledge on the left and pull yourself up. Head up the passage to a room with a stone bridge. The only opening at the moment is the one up ahead. Once you step on the first part of the ramp, a ball starts rolling. Run back and turn to either side. The ball will wipe out a part of the bridge, which reveals a pillar. It also makes three gates close in the passage that it rolled from. The goal is to open the three gates and gain access to the next part of the level.Return to the entrance and climb down the ledges on the right in order to reach the bottom of the pit. Pick up the pistol ammo on the right, then push the movable box beneath the ledges you came from so that you can return. Head over to the other side of the pit and push (or pull) the tall pillar close to the left hand opening. Climb back up, cross over the bridge and go to the left. Jump on the wooden platform of the pillar and then to the next ledge. Jump to grab the crevice in the wall, then grab the next one. From there, jump to grab the crevice of the pillar on the right, then the top. Now pull up. Jump to grab the vertical pole, then jump to the ledge above the opening with three closed gates. Draw your guns and shoot the gold ring that holds the structure above the bridge. It falls, destroying another part of the bridge. Use the grapple to catch the two gold rings above and swing to the opening above the entrance. Use the switch now to open the first gate. Use the grapple again to catch the rings and go back.
Make your way to the left hand opening. Continue along the passage to a pit and pick up the shotgun ammo. Go carefully past the dart trap, then jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to grab the crevice ahead. Jump to grab the next three crevices on the left, carefully passing two dart traps. Once you reach the third crevice, jump to grab the ladder behind you. When you're ready to go past the dart trap, jump to grab the crevice on the right, then the next one. Jump to land on the vertical structure and, before Lara loses her balance, jump to the safe ledge ahead. Pick up the small medipack and continue to follow the passage around to the left. Collect another small medipack and enter the next room. Go past the two sets of dart traps and head up the steps. The next passage takes you to a second set of dart traps that you have to get past. Now use the grapple to catch the gold ring above and swing to the broken stairs ahead. You can't reach the switch from here, so jump to grab the vertical structure on the left, then grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to grab the crevice up ahead. Jump to grab the ledge above and pull yourself up. Go around to the left and pick up the pistol ammo. Jump to grab the stone ledge just above the switch, then release to grab the switch, opening the third gate.
Return to the passage, but take care since there are more dart traps ahead. Once you pass them, follow along the passage to the previous room. There two moving blades between the darts, so passing them isn't easy. Draw your guns again, as a raptor will attack when you enter the next passage. Kill it. Return to the pit, and pass it once more to get back to the room with the stone bridge. Use the crevices you came from to return to the bridge and, again, make your way down to the pit. Push and pull the two pillars so that you can reach the right hand opening. Climb up, cross the bridge and jump from pillar to pillar until you reach the right hand opening. Follow the passage to a pit.
Hang from the edge of the pit and release to grab the crevice below. Drop down to the ground and head over to the other side of the pit. Pick up the artifact and return. Grab the vertical structure, climb up to the top and jump to the ledge you came from. Lara has to jump to land on the vertical structure, making sure to avoid the darts. Jump to grab the crevice in the left hand wall while avoiding more darts. Jump to grab the crevice on the right. Release to grab the lower crevice and shimmy to the right. Jump to the vertical structure behind you, then to the safe ledge ahead. Now follow the passage to the next room. Pick up the shotgun shells from the left.
As you approach the switch, the floor collapses revealing a room below. You slide into this room, but you better do it with your pistols ready, as two wolves attack you. Once they're dead, go up either ramp and pull the movable cage out of the alcove. Throw it to the ground and position it next to the right hand pillar. Climb up on the cage and jump to grab the small crevice of the pillar, then the next one. Jump to grab the vertical pole behind you and then the next. Once you pull the cage out of the alcove, position it to the edge of the platform. Climb on the cage and jump to directly grab the second vertical pole. Jump to grab the crevice of the other pillar and make your way around the corner. Jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you, swing / jump to grab the stone ledge in the corner, then pull up. Jump to grab the next two crevices and traverse to the right. Jump to grab the vertical pole behind you and climb to the top. Before jumping to the switch, notice the opening on the left. Jump to grab the edge, pull up and pick up the artifact on the left. Now jump back to grab the vertical pole you came from.
Jump to grab the ledge above the switch, then release to grab the switch that opens the middle gate. Hang from the switch and jump to grab the horizontal pole on the right. Swing / jump to grab the crevice in the wall. Climb up the crevices to reach the opening above. Make your way around to the right and drop down. As you return through the passage, another raptor will attack from around the corner, so be ready for it. Once it's dead, follow the way back to the pit. Another raptor awaits you down there, but you don't have to deal with it (unless you missed the first artifact and need to go down there). Pass the pit as you did before and return to the room with the broken stone bridge. Jump onto the two movable pillars to reach the ramp with the now open gates. Go up the ramp and head either way to reach a second ramp. Go up the ramp to reach the next room.
A cut scene shows Lara approaching the pedestal with the piece of Scion on it. She passes by it and goes up the steps. She approaches a statue with two mummies alongside it. Lara starts reading an inscription "Here sits the god king Qualopec; one of the triumvirate, keepers of the three pieces of the Scion, diviners of its knowledge, sacred rulers of Atlantis". Then Lara approaches the statue closer and the mummy on the right awakes and falls down. She jumps back and draws guns. When everything seems quiet again, she steps back and takes the piece from the pedestal. This causes an earthquake and rocks start falling from above. Before they block the entrance to the room, Lara manages to take a last glimpse of the statue that has suddenly come to life.
Don't worry about the statue for the moment; ... it won't come after you. With the Scion of Qualopec in your backpack, go down the ramp and return once again to the room with the stone bridge. Jump over the gaps to get back to the entrance. Continue down the ramp to reach the first pit. There is another raptor down there, but deal with it only if you want all the kills. Pass the pit the way you did when you first started the level. Elsewise, you can drop down and climb out from the other side. Follow the tunnel back to the Lost Valley. In another cut scene, Lara jumps into the pool. Once she surfaces, Larson is waiting for her. However, she is not surprised to see him here. Be prepared for the Interactive cut scene. You must press the right buttons here to save Lara from his attack.
Lara has disarmed Larson in the next cut scene. She shows him the artifact and, since this is only one piece of the Scion, she asks where the rest of it is. Larson isn't very cooperative, so Lara points her guns at his head. This doesn't make any differnce for him, since he figures Pierre has probably already found his piece of the Scion. Lara asks for the location, but Larson doesn't know. She believes him and decides to leave. Larson grabs his shotgun, but Lara has guessed his move! She kicks him and he falls unconscious to the ground (if you did not find the shotgun in Lost Valley, you can take Larson's).
A cut scene shows Lara at the top of an elevator. She uses her gun and cuts through a cable holding the elevator. When the cable is cut, the weight on the other side starts falling down and Lara hoists up. She releases the cable and lands on the roof of Natla's Technologies building. She then spots a glass hatch and uses it to enter Natla's office. Opposite the desk is a large screen. Lara uses the remote control to turn the television screen on. From the various options, she selects Larson's name. In the recorded movie, Larson talks with Natla, and it's obvious he was following Lara all along. She then selects Pierre's name and the recorded movie shows Pierre talking with Natla. He tells her that he has located his piece of the Scion, while he shows the location at the same time. Lara recognizes the place, ...... St. Francis Folly.
Level 5: St. Francis Folly
We hear the voice of Lara's father as a cut scene shows St. Francis Folly, .... "I've acquired new evidence that leads me to believe it is the Scion itself that is in some strange way, a vast library of information to rival even Alexandria. I am now convinced that, if I can obtain it, I will finally discover what happened to my bevoled Amelia." Lara climbs the rocks to the monastery. She picks up a can and realizes that someone else was here before her. "Oh, Pierre, .... litter bug."As the level begins, draw guns and continue ahead. Two lions appear behind the pillars, kill them. In another cut scene, Lara hears a voice from a man talking to her. Lara recognizes his voice and advises Pierre to move on, since Natla usually doesn't honor her contracts. He tells her that they he and Natla understand each other. He finds things for her and she rewards him handsomely for it. It's obvious that Lara hasn't spotted Pierre yet, that's why she points her guns around. Pierre believes that since Lara seeks the same thing he does, and he believes her instincts, she should not trusted. He, on the other hand, is a professional, since he focuses on the job and gets paid for it. Lara tells him that there is more to life than money, but Pierre says that there is a difference between life and business. Lara has managed to get a piece of the Scion, though. So Pierre offers a challenge: ...... who is going to get the third piece?
Continue ahead and step on the circular plate. The camera pans back and shows a gate that opens above. Once you step off the plate, the gate closes, .... so you need to find something to position on the plate in order for the gate to remain open. Head over to the other side and climb up the far right pillar, using its crevices. Turn and jump to grab the crevice of the far left pillar. Again, use the crevices to climb to the top. Jump to land on the next pillar, then jump to the balcony on the right. As you enter the small room, you see the artifact behind the gate, but you'll have to get it later. From the balcony, jump to the next ledge. Jump off the ledge and use the grapple again to grab the ring on the wall. Perform the wall run here and jump to the passage on the other side. You will reach an area with a mural which has some glowing diamonds on its body.
Step on the pressure plate to turn off the glow and head along the passage to where you reach a closed door with a mural. This one has a diamond on its left eye, ... another on the sword. Return to the first mural and shoot the similar diamonds there. Now you'll see a door opening, head back there. Jump off the edge, and use the grapple to catch the ring on the wall. Execute a wall run to reach the opposite ledge, then jump to grab the balcony and enter a small room. A decorative design there shows four diamonds that you'll need to use. You'll find one diamond on (each) sole, one on the hand and another one on the back. Return to the mural again, step on the pressure plate to turn the diamonds glow off and shoot the correspondings ones you see. Once yoyu've completed this task, you'll see the gate behind you opening. Go through this gate to find a golden globe.
Use the grapple to catch both locks there and pull them out. After you've done that, the globe will fall down. Push the globe off the edge, throwing it to the ground. Jump to the left hand pillar, from the balcony, and use the crevices to get down. Now push the globe and position it on the circular plate you see, ...thisb opens a door. Climb up the far right pillar again, and jump to grab the crevice of the left one. Climb to the top, then jump to the balcony in front of the door that is now open.. Go through, and head to the left. Jump off the ledge, using the grapple to catch the ring on the wall. You can climb down using the grapple line and perform another wall run to reach the alcove on your left. Collect a large medipack and drop to the ground below. (You can also catch the gold ring from the ledge to the left of the closed gate, if you missed the medipak.) The circular plate you saw earlier opens the gate, but you need a weight to place on it once again. Now use the switch to open the door that takes you back to the room with pillars.
Careful here! Once you arrive, two lions attack from behind the pillars. Enter the room and go up the steps where they can't get to you. Kill them safely from there. If they leave the room, go down to lure them and back. Once you've finished them off, exit here and push - pull the globe into the room. A gate above will close. Don't worry, you don't need it anymore. Now move the globe onto the plate to open the gate. Study the mural you see above the open door, ... the one that goes outside. There are seven diamonds on its body. One on each sole, one on the knee, one the back, one on the hand, one on the left eye and another on the sword. Go back to the mural and shoot those same diamonds! Open the gate that leads to the artifact and once you retrieve it, return here. Head through the gate and down the steps to reach a tall room with a central structure in it. The object here is to find 4 switches and open the 4 doors. Remember that each door hides one key, and all 4 keys will open the exit door (located at the bottom of the tall room).
You see two switches. One on the left, and another on the right. Jump to grab the top of the central structure, then pull yourself up. Head over to the left to reach the end. You'll see a ledge with a ring at the front on the opposite wall. Look to the right, and you'll see a gold ring attached to another ledge. You'll need to pull it out using the grapple. Now jump to the left hand ledge, then jump to the alcove on your left. From the alcove, jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to land at the bottom of the steps, then run up and use the switch to open the Poseidon door, ... this releases two bats. This switch also extends a platform at the front, that helps you to return to the central structure. Drop down to the lower ledge of the structure. While facing the entrance, shoot the button in the alcove below. This will extend a ledge at the front of it. It leads to the Hephaestus door. Unfortunately, it's closed. While facing the entrance, turn left. Use the grapple to catch the ring on the column. Pull on it, thus bringing it down and making its other part land on the lower ledge of the structure.
Now hang from the edge of the structure and drop down to the lower ledge. Look around and you'll see the top part of a ladder, as well as the column you pulled down before. Located below the ledge you extended by shooting the button, you'll find another ring that you have to pull on to make another column fall down and land on the lower part of the structure. Climb on the first fallen column and cross to the end. Jump on the left hand ledge and collect the small medipack. Jump to grab the opposite block, and then the block after. Grab the crevice in the wall, shimmy around the corner and then jump to grab the ledge above. Now jump to grab the one at the bottom of the stairs. Pull yourself up, head up the stairs and activate the switch to open the Hephaestus door. Remember, the switch will extend a platform at the front, so you can return back to the central structure. Wait a minute and a couple of bats will show up. Shoot them, then return to the top of the central structure.
At the top of the structure, drop down to the lower ledge. Jump on the broken platform on the same level. From here, jump to the ledge you extended by shooting the button. Jump to grab the crevice in the wall on the right. Grab the edge of the alcove, pull up and jump to grab the horizontal pole. Now swing and jump to grab the ledge ahead, Then release to grab the edge of the alcove and pull up. Crawl in and go to the other side. Press the "crouch" button to make Lara grab the edge. Traverse over to the right and pull up. Go through the door. This passage takes you to a switch that opens a gate which falls down after a few seconds. Careful! If you're standing in front of it, it will kill Lara. Access the narrow ledges in the back left corner to reach the opening above the gate. Drop down at the other side, then follow the next passage to get you to a room with an electrified ball. You have to step, and press the four buttons on the floor; one in each corner. Wait for the buttons to come up, then step on them to make them go down. There are more squares that go up and down (the lighting hits only those that are "up"). Use the lower squares (safe spots) to move around on. When you make it, the gates at the other side open. Enter the next room.
You'll see a key behind a gate that you need to open. First, locate the movable statue on the far right. Push-pull it into one of the holes in the floor. Make certain it faces the center of the room. And since there are two more holes, you'll need to find two more statues. Notice the big hammer on the left? Step on the pressure plate below and the hammer will fall down. Don't stay there or it will smash Lara! You can use a movable box nearby to push onto the plate. The hammer will smash the box open, thereby revealing a statue. Push-pull the statue in one of the holes. Make sure it faces the center of the room. Now step on the plate then immediately step off. After the hammer falls, grab its handle and jump to grab the top. Pull up and jump to the taller platform with a large medipack. Collect it and drop down again. Do the same to reach the lower platform with shotgun ammo, then jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing - jump to the ledge above the gate. Enter the alcove on the left to pick up artifact. #2.
Jump to grab the next pole, then swing and jump to the opposite platform. Push-pull a movable box and throw it down. It shatters, thus revealing a third statue. Now drop down and move the statue into the last hole. Again, make sure it faces the center of the room. You need to step on the pressure plate it for one last time. The hammer is still active, so step off of it quickly before you're hit! Once the hammer hits the plate, the gate to the key and the exit doors open. Head through the gate and get the key of Hephaestus from the pedestal. Go past the electrified ball and leave the room.
Activate the switch to open the gate that opens after a few seconds. This gives you the time to jump and grab its handhold. The gate then closes after a couple of seconds. When you hear a 3rd tick of the timer, press the "jump" button to grab the opening above. Drop down on the other side, and return to the room with the central structure. Once you get there, a ledge extends. Now you can reach the central structure. Jump to grab the ledge on the right pillar of the structure. Work your way around the corner, then release to grab the lower ledge. Traverse over to the right then pull up. Now you're on the same level as the closed Atlas door. As you face that door, grab the ladder on the left, climb down, then release to drop on the lower platform. Head over to the other side (the part that looks broken). Notice the switch in the alcove below, ... this opens the Damocles door. To reach this switch, jump to the slide on the right of it. Now use it to open the door. After you've used the switch, hang from the edge of the alcove and release to grab the lower ledge. Drop down. To your left and around the walkway you'll find the switch that opens the Atlas door.
Drop down to the ground and approach the central structure. Climb onto the lower block and collect the shotgun ammo. Jump to grab the ledge and pull up. Grab the crevice of the pillar and shimmy around the corner. Now jump to grab the ladder on the right and climb to the top. Notice the ring on the wall to your left? You can use the grapple here to catch it and pull the ledge out. This ledge leads to the Poseidon door. Facing the Atlas door, locate the stone block on the left. Climb up on it and jump to grab the ledge of the pillar opposite you. Traverse around the two corners, then jump to grab the upper ledge. Make your way around the corner and jump to grab the platform on the right (the one you jumped from to reach the Damocles switch). Stand with the Atlas door to your back, then jump to the opposite ledge. Now jump to grab the crevice in the left hand pillar. Traverse around the corner and jump to grab the upper ledge. Jump to grab the ledge on the left, then the one above and pull up. You're once again on the ledge, ... on the same level as the Atlas door. Now climb on the block and jump to grab the crevice in the pillar. Make your way around the two corners, then jump to grab the edge of the platform and pull up. Jump to the opposite ledge. Grab the crevice of the pillar and traverse around the corner. Jump to grab the ledge above. Now jump to grab the platform above and pull yourself up. This brings you back to the top of the central structure.
Head around the platform and jump on the ledge you extended when you first entered the room, then jump to grab the ledge on the right and drop down. Hang from the edge and shimmy right around the corner. Release to grab the lower ledge. Now drop to the slide and jump to grab the crevice ahead, before you fall to your death! Make your way around the corner and pull yourself up. You may want to go through the Atlas door here and save your game (checkpoint), in case you die going after this next secret. Hang from the edge you came from. Release to grab the lower ledge and traverse around to the left. Once you've reached the end, jump to grab the next ledge. Jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you. Then swing and jump into the alcove. Climb on the block and collect artifact #3. Jump to grab the pole and make your way back to the Atlas door the same way you got here.
Go along the passage until you come to a switch that opens the door after a couple of seconds. It gives you time to jump and grab the handhold (watch out for the spikes). The gate closes after a couple of seconds, so when you hear the 3rd tick of the timer, press the "jump" button to grab the opening above. Drop down at the other side (ignore the pole you see). Now follow the passage. Watch out here, because it's a long way down to the bottom of this pit! Grab the mechanism and rotate it to extend two platforms above the pit. They will help you get across. Once you're across, head up the ramp and spot the ledge on the left. Grab it, jump to grab the next one then traverse to the left. Jump to grab the ledge above and pull yourself up. Collect the pistol ammo then drop down (to the right). Activate the switch to extend two sticks above the pit area. This will create a horizontal pole.
Drop back down now and head for the top of the ramp. Be careful of the spikes! Enable the "manual aim". Shoot the two buttons alongside the Atlas statue. Each time you shoot a button, the camera shows a row of spikes that needs to be removed. After the second shot, Atlas' globe will fall, so run down the ramp out of it's way. Continue running until you reach the pit. Quickly jump to grab the pole, but don't swing because the globe will hit you. Once you've grabbed the pole, press the "jump" button to land on the other side. The globe will wipe out the pole and fall into the pit below. Activate the mechanism again to extend the stone platforms. Make your way across. Continue to the top of the ramp and gather up the shotgun ammo you find there. Now enter the alcove and collect the key of Atlas on the pedestal. Head down the ramp and use the broken pillar (on the left) to reach the ledge above. Pick up the small medipack you see. Climb on the ledge to the left and pick up artifact #4. Drop back down.
Use the switch to extend the stone platforms above the pit. As they start opening, drop to the ground and cross the pit. Continue along the passage andctivate the switch. Jump to grab the handhold on the door. After it opens, jump to grab the pole behind you. The door closes. Swing and jump to grab the opening above it. Drop down at the other side and return to the central structure room, where you will see a ledge extend. This allows you to reach the central structure. Run-jump to grab the opposite ledge of the structure, then pull up. On the right is a ladder, climb down and drop to the platform. Turn to the right and jump to grab the opposite ledge. Pull up and climb on the column you previously had pulled down . Cross over it to the end and climb upon the right hand ledge. Pull the movable cage. Now hang from the right edge of the ledge. Jump to grab the next ledge and work your way around the corner. Drop down and collect the small medipack, then make your way back to the fallen column.
Climb on the left hand ledge and push the movable cage. Then jump back to the right hand ledge, and jump to grab the crevice above the left ledge. Shimmy to the left (all the way), then release to grab the lower ledge. Now jump to grab the ledge on the left. Traverse around the corner and release to grab the lower ledge. Drop down and pick up a small medipack. Cling from the edge of the platform and release to grab the lower ledge. Work your way around the corner and drop, then slide down the slope to land in front of the Damocles door. Head through the door. A switch opens the door, but it quickly closes once you grab its handhold (Lara's weight makes it close). You must use the grapple here to catch the block above the door. Pull it down. Careful, ... if the block falls on Lara, it will crush her. Use the switch, then jump on the block. Let the door open a little, then jump to grab its handhold and quickly jump to grab the opening before the door closes. Drop down over the other side and follow along the passage. Step on the pressure plate to open the door.
As you enter the room, look above to see the swords there. They're harmless for the time being. Proceed and enter the next room safely. Go to the back where you'll find see a small medipack and some pistol ammo to pick up. Now go to the center of the room and collect the key of Damocles. Quickly jump out of the way, as the swords from above will begin to fall down on you. The exit door closes, and the swords rise up in the previous room. A camera alerts you to the hanging swords. It also makes some ledges fall down, so you can exit from there. Head up the sloped ledge at the back of the room. Use the grapple to catch the ring on the wall, and perform the wall run to reach either of the L-shaped platforms. From there, you can jump to the ledge in the middle, then jump on the pillar to the right. Now jump in the right-hand window, using the lever to remove some swords from the floor of the first room. Drop to the ground below and return to the previous room (watch out for the sword).
You'll find the left-hand way blocked by swords. Go to the right, around the corner. Upon reaching the end, the camera now shows you the area from above. You have to reach the other side of the room intact. Lara can stand for only a second on the white squares. Pass from the red ones. Once across, don't be in a big hurry to continue, as the hanging swords will fall down, so move carefully! Head around to the left until you see a low, broken pillar. Climb onto it and jump to grab the crevice you see in the wall. Jump to grab the one above, then traverse to the left around the corner. Pull up in front of the window. Now pull the lever to rid yourself of the swords behind this window (and a few others you passed before).
Drop down to ground and climb onto the broken pillar again. Jump over the swords and land on the other side. Enter the second room and make your way to the platfrom in the middle of the room yet again. This time continue to the left and jump to grab the ledge of the left-hand window. Pull up and collect artifact #5. Now drop back down and make your way back to the window, where you pulled the last switch. Grab the vertical structure and jump to grab the pillar. Pull yourself up and jump over to the next pillar. Now jump to grab the another vertical structure. Release to land in front of the window. Pick up a large medipack here. Jump to grab the lower ledge on the wall, then jump to grab the upper one and shimmy to the left. See the gold ring above? Jump to the left and use the grapple to catch the ring. Perform a wall run, then jump to land on the pillar behind and to the left.
Jump from pillar to pillar. Once you've reached the last one, jump to grab the ledge on the wall. Now use the others to reach the ledge above the door. Use the mechanism to open the door and drop down below. Head through the door and follow along the passage. Activate the switch, then jump to grab the handhold on the door. The door opens. Once you've heard the 3rd tick of the timer, be sure to press "jump" to grab the opening above it. Drop down over the other side. Follow the passage to return to the room with the central structure. Upon your return a ledge will extend. This time, however, you can't reach the central structure. Hang from either side of the ledge, then drop down. Drop to the ground and climb up the central structure until you reach the first ledge. Turn to the left and jump on the ledge you extended earlier. Jump to grab the ledge on the right, then over to the next one. Jump to grab the next ledge, then to the next two above it. Pull yourself up, climb onto the right hand ledge and crawl under the rock. At the end, drop down in front of the Poseidon door.
Continue through the Poseidon door. Follow along the passage and activate the switch. Jump to grab the handhold and wait for the door to open. When you hear the 3rd tick of the timer, press "jump" to grab the opening above. Drop down on the other side and draw your guns, you're going to need them. Three rats show up from around the corner, so shoot them. This passage takes you to a room with a pool. Gather up the small medipack from the back of the room, then jump into the water. Swim down to where you will see a lever, ... pull it to open a nearby gate. Swim through the gate and simply follow the tunnel to another room, half-filled with water. Jump into the water and locate a lever on the central column. Pull it to open a gate just above. Surface, then climb into the alcove and collect artifact #6.
Now jump into the water again and then climb into the alcove just to the right of the entrance. Here you will find a small medipack (just in case). Back into the water. Climb on the circular platfrom in the middle. See the lever that you can't use right now? Climb up the structure until you reach the top. Follow along the walkway that leads to a statue of a fish. Pick up the pistol ammo. Then pull the movable box to allow the water flow out from the statue's mouth. This fills the room with water. Remember the opening to the right of the statue (as you face it). Jump into the water and climb the ledge opposite the statue. There is another movable box here, ... push it into the water. Jump into the water and pull the lever that you couldn't use before. This opens a hatch and releases a wooden platform (which will get stuck beneath a ledge).
Surface and climb out of the water. Head for the fish statue, this time push the movable box towards the its mouth. Be certain that you center the box to the mouth (otherwise the water will simply push the box back). This will stop the water from falling, and bring the water level back to its original point. Now jump in the water and climb onto the ledge with the second movable box. Push it toward the mouth of the fish to stop the water from falling down. This lowers the water level even more, and makes the wooden platform accessible to you.
Head for the entrance and use the ledges on the right to go down. Use the grapple to pull the wooden platform beneath the opening (located at the top of the room). You can use the ledges you came from to return to the circular platform above. Pull the movable box to fill the room with water and raise the wooden platform. Correct the platform's position. Make sure it is beneath the opening. Now climb up the central structure to the top and pull the other box to fill the room with more water and bring the wooden platform to the top. Jump onto it, then jump to grab the edge of the opening. Grab the crevice in the wall and jump to grab the opening to the right. Drop down over the other side and grab the key of Poseidon from its pedestal.
Activate the switch, opening the door and then drop into the water. Swim down and through the opening that you used to first enter this room. Return to the pool and climb out of the water. If you don't think you have enough breath, you can always push the top box to stop the water from falling. Now follow the passage and use the switch. Jump to grab the stone part of the door and wait for it to open. Once you've heard the 3rd tick of the timer, press "jump" to grab the opening above you. Drop down over the other side and return to the room with the central structure. Once there, you will see a ledge extend. You can now reach the central structure. Jump to land on the ledge of the central structure. Continue to the ground and use the 4 keys to open the door, thus ending this level.
Level 6: The Coliseum
Head through the door you just opened. Follow along the passage to the next room and kill the two rats there. Vault onto the rock in the back left corner. Jump to grab the ledge, then pull up and turn around. Jump to grab the top of the pillar and pull up. Collect the small medipack and drop back down to the ledge. Jump to grab the next ledge and pull up once again. Now jump to grab the ledge opposite the entrance and pull up. Shoot the rat, and continue to the other side of the ledge. Here, Lara must drop down and jump over the pool. Climb onto the stone ledge and gather up the shotgun ammo you find there. Drop back down and into the pool. Swim to the side with the fallen pillar (the other way is a dead end). At the T-section swim to the left. If you need to, surface to get some air. Now continue swiming until you pass a broken wall. Surface and climb out of the water. Shoot the four-legged and winged rodents you find here. Climb onto the low cage. Jump to grab the ledge on the wall, then jump to grab the one to the right. Use the next ledge to help you reach the big cage, where you'll find a large medipack. Collect it and drop back down. Climb onto the low cage again and jump to grab the ledge on the wall. Now, jump to grab the tunnel on the left. Make your way around the two corners. Jump to grab the ledge, then the vertical pole behind you. Ascend to the top and jump over to the big cage. From here, jump behind the breaker to land on yet another cage. Drop down and head up the ascent to reach the Coliseum.In a cut scene Lara enters the arena area. A gorilla appears on the left and isn't too pleased at seeing her there. It picks up a rock and throws it toward her (she manages to avoid it). She then points her guns at the gorilla!
Two gorillas now chase after Lara. Draw your guns and start shooting! Be careful, since they have tremendous strength, and can grab the various rocks and hurl them at you. After you've killed them, look for some shotgun ammo opposite the statue. Climb the rocks to the right of the statue then jump to grab the ledge. Continue to the right and pick up more shotgun ammo. Return and head up the ramp. Two bats will attack you here, so shoot them! Climb up the ledge close to the pillar and jump to grab its crevice. Traverse around and jump to grab the crevice above it. Work your way to the left, then jump to the stone ledge behind you. Jump to grab the next ledge and pull yourself up. Pick up the small medipack you find. Slide down the slope on the other side. Jump to the stone ledge on the left, then jump to grab the balcony. Pull up and go to the front. Activate the switch to open a door in the arena.
Safely make your way down. Don't drop into the arena yet. If you hang from the ledge, two gorillas will come through the door and two lions will join after a while. Shoot them from above and THEN drop into the arena. Go through the door and down the acsent to reach a warehouse. To the left is a cage with a Key at the top, but you can't quite reach it. Go to the right and collect the shotgun ammo there. Head over to the other side of the warehouse and use the grapple to catch the small box. Now pull it down and push it above the wooden ramp. Position the box next to the cage and climb up it to retreive the Balcony key. Drop down and follow along the passage back to the arena. Get ready here, as two lions are waiting for you! Kill them, then return to the balcony the same way you did before. Use the key you retreived to open the gate, then go through. Climb the ladder to reach the top of the Coliseum.
Go to the right to find two bats, ... shoot them. Now head left and jump to grab the next ledge. Pull up and continue to the other side. You'll find a small medipack on the ledge below. If you decide to go after it, you'll have to take the long way back to this ledge. Jump off the ledge and use the grapple to catch the ring on the ceiling. See another ring beyond? Don't bother with it for right now. Climb up the grapple line, swing and jump to grab the ledge ABOVE the second ring. Pull up, then go to the other side. To reach the ledge with the small medipack, you have to jump and grab the crevice below. Jump to grab the ledge with the medipack and pull yourself up. To go after the next secret, turn around and jump to grab the crevice in the pillar. Traverse to your left, then jump to grab the ledge. Pull up and pick up a pair of caliber pistols! Now hang from the edge and traverse to your left to reach the ledge you came from, then pull up.
Jump off this ledge and use the grapple to catch the gold ring you used before. Turn around and climb down the grapple line. Swing and jump to grab the second ring. You have to jump and grab the crevice to the right of the alcove. Once you're there, traverse to your left and pull into the alcove. Collect the artifact and hang from the edge. Now shimmy to your right and pull up onto the upper ledge.
Slide down the slope and jump to grab the ledge you see. Pull yourself up and jump to grab the crevice in the pillar, then grab the top of it. Traverse to the left and jump to the stone ledge behind you. Jump to the roof with two statues. Head over to the other side and drop to the ledge below. Don't drop down from here, since if you do, you'll have to take the long way back! Instead, jump to the balcony and pick up some more pistol ammo. Continue through the opening and down the ramp. At the junction, go left. Follow along the passage and shoot two more bats. Next stop .... Midas's Palace.
Level 7: Midas's Palace
Run up the stairs to enter Midas room. Two gorillas attack from beyond, so be ready for them! If you go any further, another one will show up. You can kill them from the ledge with the switch that I'll tell you about later. The statue you spy on the other side is Midas'. Midas was a king of Phrygia, in Greek mythology, and could transform whatever he touched into gold. Obviously, the hand in the room has this very meaning. Should Lara jump onto the hand, she would be transformed into gold and die. Get a checkpoint here. Just to the left of the entrance is a fountain you can climb onto, then jump to grab the crevice in the wall. Now jump to grab the ledge above and traverse around to the left. Pull up onto the platform with a shallow pool. Collect a large medipack, then use the switch to open a door below. Drop down and go through the door you just opened. Follow either path to reach the next room.Head over to the right of the room and pick up the shotgun ammo there. Turn and face the entrance and notice the rocks in the alcove on the right. Use your grapple to catch the ring. Pull the rocks down to reveal the content of the alcove. Go through the opening opposite the entrance here. The stairs you see lead to a closed gate. There's a passage to the side with a movable crate at the end. Pull it, revealing a small room with a switch. Use th switch to open the gate at the top of stairs. Now exit the room, go up the stairs and through the gate. Collect a small medipack from the right then continue up the stairs. Pull the lever to raise the blocks and slide down into the room below. It extends some ledges from the walls. Use the raised blocks and extended ledges to get to the opposite alcovecontaining the piece you're searching for.
Jump onto the pillar ahead, ... but since it will sink, quickly jump to grab the pillar with spikes on the left. Traverse around the two corners. Now jump to the slope behind you, slide then jump to grab the extened ledge. Pull up and quickly jump to grab the edge of the alcove beyond, before the ledge retracts. Continue to the right then pull up. Collect the Athenian Owl Figurine relic from behind the rocks. Drop back down and make your way back to the lever. Activate it to raise the blocks and extend the ledges again. Jump on the pillar ahead, but again, don't stay there long as it will sink. Quickly jump to grab the pillar with spikes on the left and make your way around the two corners. Jump to the slope behind you, slide then jump to grab the extended ledge. Pull up. This time, jump to grab the crevice of the pillar with spikes on the right. Jump to grab the top and traverse to your right, then around the two corners. Jump to the pillar behind you and then on the slope ahead. Jump to grab the ledge and pull up. Quickly jump to the pillar on the right before the ledge retracts, then quickly jump to grab the edge of the alcove before the pillar sinks. Pull yourself up and pick up the artifact. Drop down again and return to the lever. Pull it again to raise the blocks and extend the ledges.
Again, jump on the pillar ahead (remember, it will sink). Quickly jump to grab the pillar with spikes on the left and work around the two corners. Jump to the slope behind you, slide then jump to grab the extened ledge. Pull up and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar with spikes on the right. Jump to grab the top, and traverse around the two corners. Jump to the pillar behind you and then on the slope ahead. Immediately jump to grab the ledge and pull yourself up. Jump, quickly, to the ledge on the left. Then jump to grab the pillar with spikes. Traverse to the left, around the two corners, and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar behind you. Jump to grab the top of the pillar and then pull up. Turn right and jump into the alcove. Collect lead bar #1 from the pedestal.
Drop down again and return to the Midas room. Be ready!! Two gorillas will attack as you exit, so kill them. Climb onto the ledge with the Midas statue, grab the crevice to the left and jump to grab the next one. Now climb on the ledge above and go to the left. Behind the statue you'll find a switch that opens the other door below you. Climb onto the ledge above the switch and gather up the shotgun ammo. Go back down and head through the door. Follow either way, and go up the stairs to reach the next room. As you get there, the camera now focuses in on the piece you're looking for. It's behind some bars. You can see the stairs on the right hand side that go up (don't go there yet, however). Now, enter the room with the tall pillar. Go through the opening to the far left and follow the passage that takes you to some stairs. Again, be ready for some uninvited guests! A gorilla and a lion will come from the next area, ... kill them. Safely enter the room with the pillar. You can now use the grapple to catch all three rings. Pull the wooden beams that support the pillar in the room above. Said pillar and the room will shatter and lead bar #2 will fall. Collect it and return to the room with the tall pillar.
The place has pretty much been totaled. Exit this room and head up the stairs on the left. This takes you to a ledge higher in the room. Pick up the shotgun ammo from the left and approach the opening on the right. Shoot the 4 bats that attack from beyond and go to the right. Jump onto the stone block, then jump on the next one. Jump to grab the crevice, then to the alcove on the left. Pull yourself up and collect a large medipack. Drop back to the stone blocks and grab the crevice again. This time jump to grab the ledge on the right hand wall. Traverse to your right and jump to grab the ring on the wall. Perform the wall run and jump to grab the ledge on the right-hand wall. If you can't grab the ledge, perform the wall run. When Lara reaches the highest point on the right, press the "crouch" button to release the grapple. Lara will grab the ledge below. From here you can jump and grab the ledge on the right hand wall. Jump to grab the next ledge, then the rope behind you. Turn left and aim for the crevice of the pillar. Swing, then jump to grab it. Jump to grab the next two crevices, then the ledge on the left. Now pull yourself up. Turn and face the center of the room. Jump to the broken pillar you see below. The top part is sloped, so press "jump" to land on the stone.
Turn and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar you just slid down from. Traverse to the right. Jump to the platform behind you and continue to the other side of the platform. Now jump to grab the ledge, then grab the next one. Jump to grab the stone block to the right. Then jump to grab the ledge above and pull up. Jump off the ledge and use the grapple to catch the ring above. Climb down the grapple line (if necessary) and perform the wall run. Once you reach the highest point on the right, jump back to reach the stone ledge behind. Jump to grab the edge of the alcove and then pull up. Collect the small medipack and return to the ledge beneath the gold ring where you used the grapple. Go through the opening and follow along the passage with guns drawn. Just before you get to the next area, two gorillas will attack Lara. Kill them, then exit to the ledge back to the Midas room. Pick up the pistol ammo and activate the switch to open the door behind Midas' statue. Make your way back down and climb on the ledge behind the statue. Go through the door and follow the passage into the next room.
This room has a pool and some circular pillars in it. There's a crocodile in the water, so jump into the pool to alert it ... but, climb out quickly to kill it from safety. Jump into the water again and find the lever on the side of one of the pillars. Use it to raise a stone pillar above. Climb out of the water and head up the stairs. Cross the walkway in the middle and step on the pressure plate. This activates fires on the pillars all around. Lara needs to reach the high ledge on the opposite side (passing from the flaming pillars). Jump to grab the circular ledge ahead and pull up. Wait for the fire to go out, then jump to grab the next circular ledge with the stone pillar you raised before on the right. Pull up. The fires go on and off here, creating a circular pattern. Once they go off in front of Lara, go to the right and around to the left until you see the crevice in the pillar. Jump to grab the crevice, ... then grab the next two. Work around to the left and jump to land on the ledge behind you. Now enter the alcove and activate the switch to raise a circular ledge in the middle of the pool.
Return to the edge of the alcove, then jump to grab the crevice of the stone pillar you came from. Wait for the fires below you to go out, then drop down. Jump to grab the circular ledge you raised and pull up onto it. Wait for the fire to go off again and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar with the lion faces on it. Traverse around to the left. When you hang beneath the second lion face, jump to land on the small square ledge behind you. Now jump to grab the ladder and climb to the top. Activate the switch to raise a second stone pillar (which is next to the one with the lion faces). Use the grapple, from the edge, to catch the gold ring of the pillar with the lion faces. Pull it to rotate the pillar, thus gaining access to metal ledges that can get you to the top of it without passing through any of the fires. If, before coming here, you used the switch that gives access to the relic, this last switch would already be down ... making the switch above useless. If this is the case for you, just use the grapple and move on.
Jump to grab the metal ledge of the pillar with the lion faces, from the extended ledge. Remember, if you accidentally fall into the water, you'll have to take the long way back. But, you'll be able to grab the metal ledge from the bottom of the pillar. Climb to the top and jump to the circular ledge on the left once the fires go out. Jump to grab the crevice of the stone pillar, then grab the next. Wait for the fire to go out then traverse to the right. Do this once more. Again, remember to wait for the fire to go out, then jump to grab the crevice and quickly shimmy to the right. Jump to land on the ledge behind you and get lead bar #3 from the pedestal. Gather up the large medipack on the right, then drop into the water. Return to the plate that started the fires.
Want to go after the secret here? You have to go through the same process. If you decide against it, skip this next paragraph. Return to the right hand alcove where you used the first switch. Find the gold ring on the wall (just to the left of the alcove as you face the switch) and jump to grab it with your grapple hook. Now perform the wall run and jump to grab the ledge on the left. Release to land on the slope, slide then jump to grab the ledge of the next wall. Jump to grab the next ledge on the right, then the one above it. Jump to the slope behind you, then jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to grab the next one. Swing and jump to land on the vertical structure. Before Lara loses her balance, jump to the slope ahead then jump to land in the alcove. Activate the switch to raise the second stone pillar even more (which is exactly above), thus revealing Relic #2.
Yes, this one's timed. You have about fifty seconds or so to reach the pillar and grab the Relic, .... before the pillar sinks. Don't worry about your health during the process (you may need to pass through the fires and expend a medipak). Quickly jump into the water and make your way to the plate that started the fires. Jump to grab the first circular ledge, then jump to grab the next one (on the right). Head to the left and jump to the circular ledge in the middle of the pool. From here, jump to grab the pillar with the lion faces on it, traverse to the left and climb to the top. Jump to the circular ledge below and run to the left where you'll see the Griffin-Head Protome. Jump into the water and climb out.
Return to the Midas room, killing two gorillas along the way. For the least amount of damage, exit to the area behind the statue. Climb onto the ledge above the switch (where you got the shotgun ammo). Now go to the front side of the statue and stand in front of King Midas' hand. Press the "interact" button to bring up the lead bars. Use the first one by placing it on the hand to transform it into gold. Press the "interact" button again to take the bar from the hand. Do this two more times, then place the gold bars into their receptacles to open a trapdoor in the pool, ..... thus ending this level.
Level 8: Tomb of Tihocan
Jump in the water and swim down through the tunnel. If you need to catch your breath, you'll find an air pocket about halfway through. Once you surface, exit the water and push the movable crate into the next room. Shoot the rat and continue pushing the crate. Move it beneath the switch on the left,. Climb onto the crate and use the switch to open the trapdoor behind you. Drop down and hang from the edge of the opening, then drop to the lower room. Shoot two more rats and enter the Cistern. As you enter, Pierre talks to Lara "Don't worry, Lara. The water is quite refreshing. Ha-ha." Pay him no attention, since he can't hurt you at this point anyway. Take a look around. You'll see various ledges and a pool at the bottom. There's an opening on the right but you can't reach it right now. The first bridge on the left leads to a mechanism that will flood the Cistern later.First, turn right and jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to grab the gold ring on the wall with the grapple. Now perform the wall run once again and jump to grab the crevice on the left. Traverse around to the left and drop down where you'll find some pistol ammo. Hop onto the rock ahead and jump to grab the crevice in the wall. Jump to grab the one on the right and pull up onto the ledge above. Pick up the mini SMG ammo and jump to grab the crevice you grabbed before (after performing the wall run). Shimmy around the corner, but this time don't drop down. Jump to grab the crevice behind you, then grab the gold ring on the wall. Perform the wall run and jump to land on the ledge beyond. Go left and jump to the next ledge. Follow along and jump over the next gap. Follow the ledge and then jump to the next. Pick up the shotgun ammo and jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing, and jump to grab the next one. Now jump to the ledge beyond. Push the movable crate to throw it down.
Jump to grab the crevice in the wall, then the next one above. Jump to grab the horizontal pole on the left. Swing and jump to the opposite ledge. Go to the other side now and jump to grab the crevice. Traverse around the corner and use the two horizontal poles to reach the crevice in the opposite wall. Traverse around the corner, but don't drop down. Instead, jump to grab the crevice behind you. Make your way around the corner and pull up. Push the second movable crate and throw it down. Cross the bridge and jump to the opposite side. Now go below. The quickest way is to simply drop into the pool. Careful, crocs are about. Climb out of water using one of the two low ledges and kill the two crocodiles, quickly. Now you can see the crate you pushed before. Get the small medipack from the right, then push the crate into the pool. Go to the other side and vault onto the broken ledge. Climb on the low wall and drop down at the other side. You can use the mechanism to drain the pool. Don't forget about the other crate! There's another large medipack behind the fallen ledges (go around the Cistern). Pass the canal and kill the crocodile. Push the crate down and into the drained pool.
Now hang from the edge of the pool and shimmy to the right. Release to drop on a slope and you'll slide to the bottom. Move the two crates onto the pressure plates. One opens a trapdoor that reveals a wooden platform. The other lowers some bars above. Facing the bars, find the slide on the left. Pick up a small medipack from behind the slope. Then jump on it and quickly press the "jump" button to get off the slide. Use the grapple to catch the ring on the wall. Perform the wall run to land on the ledge in the left-hand corner. Jump to grab the crevice in the wall and traverse around the corner. Jump to grab the upper one, then the horizontal pole behind Lara. Swing and jump to grab the crevice of the opposite pillar. Work your way around the two corners and jump to grab the next pole. Swing and jump to grab the opposite crevice. Traverse to the left and pull up onto the ledge. Now slide down the slope on the left then jump to grab the ledge ahead. Pull up and climb up the ledges to get to the top. You can use the mechanism once again to flood the pool.
Facing the pool after using the mechanism, head off to the right to reach the canal. Use the grapple to catch the ring of the wooden platfrom that now floats. Pull it as much as you can into the canal. Make certain that the platform touches the ledge, since this is the correct position for later on. Make your way back to the top of the Cistern. Jump into the pool and climb out of the water, using one of the two low ledges. Go left and locate the broken ledge next to the pillar. Go up and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar. Jump to grab the next one, then traverse around the corner. Jump up to grab the horizontal pole, swing and jump to grab the ledge beyond. Now pull up, climb up the next two ledges and turn around. Jump to grab the upper crevice of the pillar you came from, then the next one. Traverse around the two corners and jump to grab the bridge above. Now pull up to the top of the Cistern.
Use the mechanism on the right to flood the Cistern. This brings the wooden platform to the top. Which is where you'll need it in order to reach a high ledge later. Jump into the water and swim into the big pipe beneath the mechanism and to the right to collect a large medipack. You'll also find a small medipack in a pipe at the far left and some additional shotgun ammo in a pipe opposite the mechanism. As you exit the pipe with the ammo, find the lever on one of the pillars to the right. Use it to open a trapdoor at the bottom of the pool. This reveals artifact #1 along with some pistol ammo.
Surface at the wooden platform, climb up on it and jump to grab the high ledge. If you can't reach it, you can jump on the walkway and correct the platform's position. Enter the room with three gargoyles. Jump into the water and swim down. Let the current take you to a small pool. Climb out of the water and collect the shotgun ammo. Jump into the water again and swim through the tunnel that takes you to the next area. You surface in a pool outside Tihocan's temple. The door that leads inside is closed. Swim to the left to find a small ledge you can climb onto. Pick up both the shotgun ammo and pistol ammo. Jump into the water again and dive down. Swim back (the way you came), and look for a tunnel to the left. Swim through it and surface at the end. Climb out of the water. Use the switch to open the door of the temple. Jump into the water again and swim back to the pool. While facing the small ledge, locate the underwater tunnel on the right. Swim there to get artifact #2 and return to the surface.
Climb out of the water and enter the temple. The two centaurs you see are harmless for the time being. Head between the pillars to the left. In a cut scene, we see Lara enter a room. She approaches the piece of Scion on the pedestal. She passes it by and goes to the tomb behind it. She starts reading the inscription "Here lies the God-King Tihocan; One of the Triumvirate; Keepers of the Three Pieces os the Scion; Leader of the chosen after the great betrayal caused Atlantis to be lost beneath the waves." Then she opens the tomb and sees that Tihocan's body is missing! Pierre points his guns to her head from behind, holding the piece of Scion. Now there's an interactive cut scene. You'll need to press the correct buttons to save Lara from Pierre's shots. In the next cut scene, Pierre exits the temple. The centaurs have awakend because the piece was removed from its place and begin to chase him. Lara exits the room at the same time. Pierre thinks that the centaurs are after him because he carries the piece of Scion, so he tosses it to Lara who grabs it. The centaurs have to kill everything that moves, starting with Pierre. Now it's Lara's turn to deal with them.
You have to kill the two centaurs, but it can't be done easily! They carry a shield that proctects them from bullets. The first thing you need to do is to remove the shield from their hands. Look at the top right of your screen. Do you see two bars? The yellow one is their health (which means that they die when the bar drops to zero). It will not decrease, however, until after you've removed their shields. The red bar indicates their rage. When you shoot repeatedly, the bar starts filling, causing the centaurs to become enraged. In that case, two things happen. (1) The centaurs stare at you, indicated by a green glow. You have to turn around and look the other way ... or simply "crouch". If you stand and look at them, the green glow will turn you into stone. Either the centaurs will kill you, or you will have to press the arrow buttons and remove the stone from your body. And (2) the centaurs attack and you have to use the adrenaline dodge and shoot at their head. Remember, you have to press and hold the "crouch" button at times. When you see the red target on a centaur's head, shoot it! If successful, the centaur will slump down and expose his shield. This means that he will turn the shield, and the ring at the back will face your direction. You will then need to use the grapple, grab the ring and pull the shield out of his hands! Once the shield is on the ground, the centaur won't pick it up again. Repeat the procedure to kill the second centaur.
After both their shields are down, start shooting the centaurs. This time, they can't attack you. They'll only use their green glow and try to petrify you. Once they become enraged, and are ready to use the green glow, quickly holster your weapons. Pick up a shield and point it in a centaur's direction. The green glow will reflect off the shield and return back to the centaur, thus turning him into stone. Quickly drop the shield and start shooting. You'll see that their health bar will start decreasing. When it drops to zero, the centaur shatters in pieces. Repeat the same process for the second centaur.
In a cut scene, we see Lara approach Pierre. It seems she feels genuinely sorry for him. She then places the two pieces of the Scion together and receives a vision. The floor falls apart and Lara falls. She continues falling and stops in mid-air in front of the Scion. It then splits into three parts. She sees the three Atlantian rulers. One of them, a woman, attained her piece and used it to maim Qualopec. The other ruler, Tihocan, wants to punish her. What of the remaining piece? When Lara awakens from this vision, she falls to the ground and picks up the pieces of the Scion.
Level 9: Temple of Khamoon
Lara begins the level with the Scion of Tihocan in her backpack. Follow along the tunnel to come to an opening. Drop down to the ground by either grabbing the edge and releasing, ... or jumping to the fallen pillar on the right and sliding down. See the gold ring on the pillar in the far right corner? Use the grapple to catch it and pull the pillar down! There's a similar pillar to the left, only this time a stone block is left in front of a ledge. You'll find the movable block in the back left corner. Pull it to reveal an alcove behind. Enter the alcove and pick up the shotgun ammo and small medipack.Exit and climb onto the stone block. Then climb to the next ledge. Pick up the small medipack and jump to grab the crevice on the left. Make your way around the corner and jump to grab the next crevice. Climb up the two crevices above then jump to grab the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to land on a fallen pillar. Just before reaching the end, jump to grab the ledge ahead. Traverse around the corner and jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you. Jump to grab the next one, then the block in the corner. Now yourself pull up. Grab the crevice on the right, and then the next one. Work around to the right and jump to grab the edge of the opening, then pull up. Jump to grab the scarab just ahead, then jump to grab the ledge above (before the scarab slides back down). Pull up and follow along the passage to a pit.
Slide down the slope on the right, then jump to grab the pole. Swing and jump to grab the scarab on the other side. Jump to grab the ledge above BEFORE the scarab slides down. Pull up and then follow the passage into the next room. Music alerts you to the upcoming situation. As you slide into the room, a black panther attacks from the right. Quickly climb on the ledge opposite the entrance to kill it from safety! Once it's dead, don't forget to pick up the shotgun ammo to the left of the entrance. Climb onto the ledge opposite the entrance and turn to your left. Jump to grab the crevice and make your way around the corner. Pull into the opening and go to the left. Jump to grab the crevice and traverse around the two corners. Pull up onto the ledge and collect a large medipack. Drop down. Climb into the opening opposite of the entrance, and slide into the City of Khamoon.
Another cut scene shows Lara sliding down the slope. She looks around and spots a mummy in front of the Sphinx. When she takes one step forward, she hears growling. She turns her head to the right and spots a second mummy. This one recognizes her appearance there and turns. It's quite obvious that it's not at all happy and starts to moan. This alerts the other mummy that awakens now and runs toward Lara.
Shoot and kill the two mummies. Collect the pistol ammo from the bottom of the slope, as well as the shotgun ammo from the far left corner. Now jump into the pool and get the small medipack (you'll find one more behind the pillar to the right of the Sphinx with the destroyed face. The obelisk above the pool has 4 receptacles, but you don't have the pieces yet. Find the low broken pillar to the left of the Sphinx. Vault onto it and jump to grab the crevice of the first pillar. Jump to grab the upper one and traverse around. Jump to grab the second pillar, then climb to the top. From here, climb onto the stone ledge in the corner. Jump to grab the next ledge, then pull up. Shoot the button on the wall to extend a pole. It slides back inside in a few seconds, so you have to quickly jump to grab it. Now swing and jump to the opposite side. Pick up the pistol ammo and go around to the left. Jump to the pillar, then to the next one below it. From there, jump to a small ledge at the bottom of the ladder. Climb up the ladder and jump to the head of the Sphinx. Climb into the opening just above the Sphinx's head. Now climb into the opening on the right. Collect artifact #1and return to the Sphinx's head.
Now jump off the head and use the grapple to catch the gold ring you see above. Swing and jump to the pillar head. Jump to grab the ledge in the corner and pull yourself up. Jump to grab the gold ring on the wall. Perform the wall run to grab the second ring. Again, perform the wall run to reach the platform on the left. If you fall while using the grapple, and survive the drop, turn to face the pool and go left. You'll see a pillar there with several crevices. Use them to return and try again. After using the grapple, go to the end of the platform and jump to the fallen ledge to slide behind the Sphinx's head. Crawl under the fallen ledge and collect the large medipack. Exit now and use the switch to open the door at the front of the Sphinx. Make your way down and go through the opening. Follow along the passage to the next room.
Upon entering the room, make note of the stone block to the right. Take a look at the other side of the room. You'll see two black panthers in an opening. They come out when you proceed further into the room. Jump on the stone block and kill the panthers safely from there. Now go to the end of the room and use the switch. This makes the statues slide forward and opens two gates close by the entrance that will then release two more black panthers. Kill them and enter one of the rooms where you'll find a small medipack. The statues slide back after just a few seconds, so return to the switch and use it again.
Head back to the entrance and climb onto the stone block. Jump to grab the ledge of the first statue and pull up. Jump to the opposite statue, then to the next two. Jump to grab the gold ring on the wall with your grapple. Perform the wall run to catch the crevice on the right. Release to grab the lower crevice and shimmy to the right. The door closes once you grab it, so you have to be quick and jump to grab the ledge above. After you're there, jump to grab the next crevice and traverse around to reach the opening, then pull up. Follow the passage to a pit.
Slide down the slope and shoot three rats that come from around the corner. A movable block is next to the slope you slid down on. Pull it outside the alcove and go behind it. Gather up the small medipack you see. Push the block to the end of the pit. Pick up another small medipack and climb onto the block. Jump to grab the ledge above and pull up. The passage takes you to a second pit. Slide down and pick up the shotgun ammo. Now use the crevices in the wall to go back up. Jump to grab the pole that extends, swing and jump to grab the next pole. Swing and jump to grab the scarab, then quickly grab the ledge above. Follow the passage to the next area. Hang from the edge to tempt a crocodile from the opening below, then pull up. You may have troubles shooting it from here, Though. You can jump down, climb on one of the low ledges to the left and kill the croc from there. Remain alert, as a second crocodile is lurking around. Enter the opening beneath the entrance and collect the small medipack. Head over to the far left corner of the area behind the pillars and climb into the opening. Pick up the small medipack and shotgun ammo, then return.
Jump into the pool and swim through the opening in the floor. Use the lever to open a gate at the end of the tunnel. This starts closing, so swim quickly to pass through it. Swim to the far right corner of the pool and pick up the large medipack from the bottom. Climb out of the water and find the scarab just to the left of the entrance. Jump to grab it. Quickly jump to grab the crevice above. Now jump to grab the platform on the right and pull up. The platform will start sliding into the wall, so run to the right and jump to the opposite platform. Jump to grab the crevice ahead, then grab the one to the left. Wait for the platform to come back outside, then jump backward and onto the platform. Run and jump to grab the scarab on the right. Quickly jump to grab the crevice above before the scarab slides back down. Jump to grab the ledge on the right and then pull up. Head up the stairs and drop into the right hand pit where you'll find a small medipack.
Now climb back up and jump to grab the vertical structure. Climb to the top, then jump to grab the scarab. Quickly jump to grab the crevice above, then grab the next one. Jump to land on the vertical structure and jump to grab the vertical pole. Jump to the alcove in front of the barred window and pick up a large medipack and pistol ammo. Jump back to grab the vertical pole, then jump to the opening. Pick up the pistol ammo and use the switch. This makes a platform in the previous room slide into the wall and lets a block fall down.
Make your way down and return to the room with the pool. Drop to the platform below and push-pull a movable block to the other side of the platform. Climb onto the block and jump to grab the crevice in the wall, then grab the next one. Jump to grab the platform behind you and pull yourself up. Again, the platform will start sliding inside the wall. Quickly jump to its next part, then jump to grab the scarab. Now quickly jump to grab the crevice above. Jump to grab the scarab on the right, then quickly jump to grab the crevice above. Jump to grab the next crevice, then the horizontal pole behind you. Swing and jump to grab the ledge and pull up. Use the grapple here to catch the ring of the door on the opposite side. Pull it to fully open it. Once you've done that, Lara de-catches the ring automatically. Quickly jump to grab the gold ring on the ceiling.
Swing once and jump to the door before it closes. Now use the switch to re-open the door, and also open the trapdoors at the top of the room. Jump to grab the ledge of the right hand door, then the one above. Jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you, swing and jump to grab the other trapdoor. Pull into the room above. Use the switch to open the trapdoors around the cat statue, and approach the opening. Before you drop down, note the gold ring on the left hand wall. Jump to grab it with your grapple. Perform the wall run to reach the crevice in the wall. Jump to grab the ring on the ceiling behind you and turn around. See the other two gold rings? Use them to reach the top of the temple of the cat. Collect artifact #2, then make your way to the ground.
Kill the two crocodiles from the ledges you stand on around the cat statue. Jump to grab the pillar of the statue and climb to the bottom. Now slide down the slope and follow the passage to come to a room with a central pillar. Pick up the two pistol ammo's from the two corners and drop to the lower ledge. Shoot the panther from here and drop down. Three more panthers exit from the small room on the left, ... so kill them. Enter the room they came from and pick up a large medipack. Exit and go over to the gate on the other side. The two panthers will be released once you use the switch to open the gate, so get ready to kill them.
Climb up the two crevices to the left of the gate and jump to grab the latter. Quickly jump to grab the ledge behind you, then the next one just above. Jump to grab the ledge on the right and let it fully rotate. Jump to grab the crevice on the left, then the next one above. Jump to grab the ledge of the central pillar, then pull yourself up. Turn left to shoot the button on the opposite wall. This lowers a gold ring from a small opening in the ceiling. Jump to catch it with your grapple, then jump to the opposite ledge. Pick up a large medipack and some pistol ammo. Swing back to the ledge of the central pillar.
Head over to the other side and go through the opening. Follow along the passage to the next room with guns ready! Shoot the panther and enter the room. The camera focuses on a part of the ceiling, indicating that something will happen there later. Climb into the opening just opposite the entrance. Climb up the ladder. Draw guns and kill the mummy that attacks you. There is a mechanical "scarab" in the room, but you can't do anything with it right now. Go to the rear, right corner of the room and climb up the stone blocks to get some pistol ammo and a large medipack. From where you got the medipack, jump to grab the gold ring on the wall. Don't perform the wall run here. Stop swinging and CLIMB UP the grapple line until you reach the bottom of the barred window. Jump to land on a vertical structure behind you. Then jump to grab the thin pillar on your left. There are two more of these same thin pillars on your right. Use them to reach the crevice in the wall. From there, jump to grab the gold ring on the wall and perform the wall run to reach the ledge. Collect artifact #3 and make your way down again.
Continue through the opening and climb the ladder. The passage takes you back to the room with the six huge statues. Use the switch to make the statues slide forward, revealing stone blocks at the top. The statues start sliding back, so quickly jump to the first block and make a "zig-zag" move to jump from block to block, .... until you reach the ledge at the other side. Go to the left and pick up another large medipack. Follow along the passage and activate the switch to remove two sticks from the mechanical scarab. This makes the statues slide forward, ...... this time permanently. Return to the room with the mechanical scarab the same way you first got there. Again, climb onto the stone blocks in the corner and use the grapple to catch the gold ring on the wall. Climb up the grapple line until you reach the bottom of the barred window. Now jump to land on the vertical structure. This time, jump to the next vertical structure to the right. Then jump to grab the crevice in the wall. Traverse to the left and jump to grab the horizontal pole of the mechanical scarab. Lara's weight will balance the scale. This will open a trapdoor, dumping sand into the room below. Release the pole.
Obelisk puzzle. Drop to the sand, using the ledges of the trapdoors. Climb into the opening and follow the passage to reach a room with 4 obelisks and 8 movable blocks. The door opposite the entrance is the exit. It will open once you solve the puzzle. But to solve it, you have to rotate the 4 obelisks to their correct position. This is shown in the side rooms, behind the movable blocks. Let's start from the block to the right of the door and move clockwise. Pull the first block and quickly climb onto it. A panther exits from the side room, so kill it from safety. Turn and see the obelisks Notice the first one from the left has been raised.
If the obelisk is still down, it means that the movable box is still on the gray square in front of the entrance of the side room. The obelisk that has been raised is "connected" to the side room. Enter the room and collect the shotgun ammo. A hieroglyphic shows an ancient Egyptian holding two white glasses. Exit and go to the obelisk you raised. Rotate it, so that the same painting reaches the line on the floor. You'll know that that you have rotated the obelisk correctly when you hear a locking sound. The side room behind the 2nd block doesn't include or show anything (so don't even bother with it now, unless you want to see everything).
Pull on the 3rd block to raise the second from the right obelisk. Now enter the room behind it. A hieroglyphic shows an Egyptian holding a green glass. Exit and rotate the obelisk so that the same painting reaches the line on the floor. Again, you'll know that that you've rotated the obelisk correctly when you hear that locking sound.
Pull the 4th block and enter the room to collect some more shotgun ammo. Exit the room.
Pull the 5th block. Enter the room behind and pick up the pistol ammo you find there and exit.
Pull the 6th block to raise the second from the left obelisk. Quickly climb onto the block, as a panther emerges from inside the room! Kill it and then enter. The hieroglyphic shows an Egyptian holding a blue vase. Exit the room and go to the obelisk. You'll see that the painting is already above the line, so you don't have to rotate it.
Pull the 7th block. Now enter the side room to get some pistol ammo, then exit.
Pull the 8th block to raise the first from the right obelisk. The hieroglyphic shows an Egyptian holding a female figure. Exit and rotate the obelisk so the same painting reaches the line on the floor. Once you do everything correctly, the exit door opens Before leaving, there's another secret here if you want it. Position the first block you used to the left of the pillar. Climb onto the block and jump to grab the crevice in the pillar, then the next one above. Make your way around the two corners and jump to grab the ledge behind you. Jump to grab the crevice of the next pillar and traverse around the corner. Jump to grab the above crevice, then jump on the first obelisk. Jump from obelisk to obelisk until you reach the final one. From here, jump to grab the crevice in the pillar, traverse around the corner then release to grab the lower crevice. Shimmy over to the right and pull up into the room. Collect the large medipack and a mummified cat. Drop down to the ground and head through the exit to end this level.
Level 10: Obelisk of Khamoon
Head up the ramp and come to a room with an obelisk in the middle and 4 raised bridges. Continue to the right and pick up the small medipack behind the pillar. Activate the switch to lower the bridge closest to you. This gives you access to the first of the 4 pieces you need. Go there to collect the Eye of Horus from the niche. Come back across the bridge and go to the right. Climb the ladder to the bottom. Pick up the pistol ammo. Now jump into the water. Climb out using the ledge on the other side and pick up the small medipack. Jump into the water again and climb into the opening. Follow along the passage to a wall that opens (and closes). When the wall opens, run past it. Continue through the passage and negotiate the next 2 sets of wall traps. Watch out when you reach the second.Now enter the next room with broken stairs on the right. Go behind them and collect the shotgun ammo you find there. Climb to the top of the stairs and jump to grab the ankh symbol. It slides down, making a pillar behind you lower. Jump back to the stairs and run to that pillar. When it goes up, jump to grab the horizontal pole on the left. Swing and jump to grab the crevice ahead. Jump to grab the next two above, then grab the ledge behind you. That ledge will start sliding into the wall, so quickly pull up. Jump to the next part, and then to the safe ledge in the corner. Turn right and jump to grab the platform in the middle. Now pull up.
Jump to grab the ledge at the opposite side. Go around behind the rocks and make a note of the switch. This extends a pole higher in the room, ... which leads to the first artifact. It's timed, and you only have 90 seconds to make it there before the pole slides back inside, so you'll have to run. Once you've collected artifact #1, the pole extends so you can return. Head back to the platform in the middle. Turn left and jump to the next ledge. Grab the crevice of the pillar, then grab the next one. Traverse around the corner and jump to grab the top of the next pillar. Don't pull up, because the darts will kill you. Make your way to the other side of the pillar and jump to grab the crevice of the 3rd pillar. Traverse to the right, around one corner and jump to grab the sloped part of the pillar above. From here, you can jump to grab the ledge on the right, then grab the horizontal pole. Now swing and jump to the ledge ahead.
Go over to the other side of the ledge. Climb up the two crevices and jump to grab the square ledge behind you. Do it quickly, before it slides back, then quickly pull up and jump to grab the opposite ledge. Traverse around to the right past the pillar and pull yourself up. Hang from the other side and shimmy to the left. Jump to grab the crevice of the pillar and traverse around the corner. Jump to grab the crevice of the pillar just behind you and release to grab the ledge below. Shimmy around the corner and then pull up. Jump to grab the crevice in the wall. To make sure you grab the crevice, run close to the wall and jump at the edge.
Now jump to grab the next crevice on your left. Shimmy to the left and jump to use the grapple. Grab the gold ring on the wall and perform the wall run. Jump to grab the crevice in the opposite wall. Traverse to the left and jump to grab the next crevice. Again, traverse to the end and jump to grab the top of the pillar behind you. Don't pull up, because the darts will kill you. Traverse to the other side and jump to grab the crevice of the next pillar. Jump to grab the one above and traverse around one corner. Jump to grab the top of the pillar and then pull up. Turn right, jump to grab the crevice of the opposite pillar, then the ledge above; pull up. If you are in the process of getting the artifact, you should see a pole on the right. Jump to grab the horizontal pole on the left, swing and jump to the ledge in front of the doorway. Collect the large medipack from the left. Now go through the opening and up the ramp.
Be ready! A mummy will attack here, so back off and kill it. Then enter the room and approach the pit. Climb down the ladder and go to the other side of the pit, where you'll find a small medipack and some shotgun ammo. Return and climb up the ladder. The two horizontal poles slide down when you grab them. You need to be quick and grab the scarab beyond. As always, the scarab will slide down, so quickly jump to grab the crevice above. If you have troubles with this, once you grab the first pole, start tapping the "jump" button. This way, Lara will swing on the poles once and when she grabs the scarab, she'll jump up and grab the crevice. Shimmy to the left and jump to the bottom of the stairs. Go up the stairs and past the two sets of closing walls. You're back in the room with the pool and obelisk, .... a little bit higher though.
Turn to the right and use the crevices in the wall to reach the horizontal pole. Swing and jump to the ledge ahead. Use the switch to lower a second bridge and open a gate behind you. Don't go down for the piece (if you do, you'll have to take the long way back by passing through the room with ledges and pillars). After you've lowered all the bridges, you can go down and get the pieces. Jump back to grab the pole and return to the ledge you came from. Use the crevices in the other wall to reach the ledge with the gate you just opened. Go through the opening and follow a passage that leads to a pair of rotating blades! Once they go inside the wall, quickly run past them. The pit doesn't contain anything. After the rotating blades go inside the wall, jump to grab the pole and quickly swing and jump to the opposite side. Now follow along the passage to the next room.
You'll be able to spot the artifact on a stone block, but you can't get it right now. There's a ring on the wall above the artifact and a slot on the left wall. Slide down the slope to reach the ground. Immediately be ready to kill the mummy that attacks you. Pick up the shotgun ammo. Now enter a small room opposite the slope to gather up a small medipack (you'll find another in the left alcove). Climb into the right-hand alcove and use the switch. This will convert the slopes into climbable blocks. It also opens a gate that leads to the next part of the level and a smaller one that gives access to a movable block. The switch you just used also extends a ring from the slot of the wall (you saw it before) and made another ring come down from the ceiling at the top of the room.
Pull the block out of the alcove and go inside to pick up the small medipack there. Exit and climb onto the block. Climb up the two crevices in the wall. Jump to grab the gold ring on the wall by using your grapple. Perform the wall run to reach the ledge on the right. Or, you can always climb up the grapple line and press "jump" to release the grapple and grab the ledge behind. Go around it and climb up the two blocks where you'll find some mini SMG ammo and a small medipack. Drop back down and go to the other side. Climb up the two crevices and wait for the rotating blades on the left, ... then enter the alcove. Now jump to grab (with your grapple) the gold ring on the wall. Once you've performed the wall run, jump to grab the scarab to the left. Quickly jump to grab the crevice above. Wait for the rotating blades on the left before you enter the alcove. Then jump to grab (with your grapple) the gold ring on the wall. After performing the wall run again, jump to grab the crevice above the one you came from. Jump to grab the crevice above, and do the wall run to reach the block on the right, .... this time avoiding the two rotating blades.
Turn to face the blocks downward. Jump to grab the gold ring on the left hand wall and perform the wall run. When Lara reaches the highest point on the right, press "jump" and the down direction key to grab the ring on the next wall. Don't drop down for the artifact (if you do that, you'll have to pass through the rotating blades again). Instead, perform the wall run to grab the square ledge in the corner. Climb up the two crevices and then jump to grab the ledge in front of the opening to the left. Go through the opening and follow the passage that returns you to the room with the obelisk. Activate the switch to lower a 3rd bridge. Don't drop down just yet. Return to the opening you came from.
Pay no attention to the ring on the ceiling for now, and turn to the left. Jump to grab the crevices you came from and drop down to the square ledge in the corner. Jump to grab (with your grapple) the ring you used before and CLIMB down the grapple line. Drop down and pick up artifact #2. Now, make your way to the ground.
Head through the gate and follow the passage to the traps. Pass the wall that "opens and closes" and jump on the first vertical structure. Wait for the rotating blades to slide back inside the wall, then jump to the second structure. Wait for the wall to open, jump on the 3rd structure then quickly jump to the opposite side. Follow the passage to return to the room with the obelisk. Pick up the small medipack, cross the bridge and get the Seal of Anubis. Go back across the bridge and use the two horizontal poles on the left (as you return) to reach the opposite ledge. Pick up the shotgun ammo and small medipack. Use the next two horizontal poles to reach the 3rd bridge. Pick up the small medipack and cross the bridge to retreive the Ankh.
Turn, go through the opening you see and follow the passage to the next traps. Two rotating blades move in opposite directions, but you don't have to make any special maneuver here. Simply crouch beneath them. Jump on the vertical structure and jump to grab the ledge ahead. Pull up and pass the wall that goes "up and down". To clear the next wall that opens and closes, jump on the vertical structure when the wall is closed. Until you reach the structure, the wall will have opened. Now jump to the opposite side. Follow the passage to the next room. You'll see 3 mummies waiting below for Lara! On the left is an ankh symbol (don't use it). This activates several rotating blades, making your next job much more difficult. If you have already used it, you can still go continue, .... but you have to be very careful with the blades.
Jump on the pillar to the left and use its ledges to get to a platform about halfway down the room. You may have trouble aiming at the mummies from here, so jump to grab the gold ring with your grapple (on the left-hand wall) and perform the wall run to land on the block in the corner. Kill the mummies from here and notice that the artifact is in the opposite alcove. You can't get it now, so drop down to the ground and climb up the ledges on the other side to reach the doorway beneath the entrance. Go through and follow the passage.
There are two sets of rotating blades here. One above the other that moves in the opposite direction. When the lower ones come to your side, start following them. Roll under the upper blades and as the lower ones approach you, jump over them. The next trap includes 3 walls that open and close, ... one after the other. When the first wall closes, jump to the vertical structure. Until you reach it, the wall will have opened. Jump to the 2nd structure (the wall should be open by now), then to the 3rd one. Finally, jump to grab the ledge ahead. Shimmy over to either the left or right, wait for the rotating blade to move to the other side and pull up onto the upper ledge. This passage gets you to the switch that lowers the last bridge.
Return to the room the same way you came. As you return, turn right and jump to grab the stone block in the corner. Pull up and jump to grab the crevice. Shimmy to the left, release to grab the crevice below and again shimmy left. Jump to grab the crevice above, but don't pull onto the ledge above. Instead, traverse around the corner and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar on the left. Traverse around the corner and pull up into the alcove to collect artifact #3.
Drop down to the ground and climb up the ledges to reach the ledge in front of the opening you came. For a second time, jump to the stone block in the corner and use the crevices. This time, pull up onto the ledge above you. Vault onto the low block and grab the crevice above. Traverse to the left and jump to grab the next ledge. Pull yourself up, grab the crevice and climb onto the ledge above. Follow the hallway around to the left. As soon as you exit at the other side, get ready! A mummy will attack from the passage you came from, ... so kill it. Climb up the two crevices and jump to grab the square ledge behind you. Use the grapple to catch the ring on the wall and perform a wall run to reach the opposite ledge. Pick up a large medipack and some shotgun ammo.
Grab the gold ring again and perform the wall run to reach the ledge opposite the it. You may have to climb up the Grapple line a little before jumping. To make sure Lara grabs the ledge behind her, climb up-down the grapple line so she won't pass the vertical painted column on the right when she reaches the highest point (you have to gain the desired momentum, so once you jump off the wall, Lara will reach the ledge). Once you've made it, jump to grab the crevice in the wall. The horizontal pole will slide down once you grab it. Be prepared to quickly jump to the opposite ledge. Pick up the pistol ammo and artifact #4.
Drop to the square ledge below, and then to the ledge below it. Grab the first crevice and traverse around the corner. To the left you see the Ankh symbol. Don't release for the lower crevice. Instead, jump to grab the blocks close to the entrance, then pull up. If you can't do that, you'll have to make your way to the ground. Climb on the block opposite the alcove with artifact #3, use the ring on the wall and perform the wall run to reach the opposite ledge. Finally, climb to the entrance. Return to the room with the obelisk, passing through the traps once more. As you exit, cross the bridge in front of you and jump to the one on the left. Gather the Scarab of Osiris. Once you have all the pieces, the gate in the pool opens.
Now drop into the pool and swim through the gate. The tunnel takes you to yet another pool. Climb out of the water and pick up the small medipack and mini SMG ammo. Activate the switch to make one of the 6 statues slide back, allowing you to return later. Climb up the ladder to return to the room with the 6 statues. Head to the right and go through the opening on the left. Follow the passage to return to the City of Khamoon, specifically in the area with the Sphinx. A centaur will attack Lara from the right, so be ready! After you've dealt with him, go to the Obelisk and place the 4 artifacts in their receptacles. This opens the exit door to end the level.
Level 11: Sanctuary of the Scion
Go through the doors you opened by placing the 4 artifacts. Now head up the stairs. Careful, ... there's company ahead! Kill the two cat mummies that attack you. After you've dispatched them, enter the room with the 4 small obelisks. In the back, you'll find some shotgun ammo and a small medipack. Look at the hieroglyphics on the walls. You'll see that they mirror one another. You have to turn the 4 obelisks and make the same paintings face one another. The paintings that must face each other are the inner ones. The idea is to rotate the cylinders so the pictures facing each other along each side of the square match up. There are 4 paintings on each obelisk. You have to mirror four sets of these (it isn't necessary to follow the position of the hieroglyphics on the walls). The right hand wall shows two blue vases. This doesn't mean that the right hand obelisks must mirror the blue vases. To solve the puzzle, simply turn obelisks #1 and #3 twice. The direction really doesn't matter. Once you've done it correctly, a pillar then rises up.Now climb on the pillar and make your way up to the top. Use the ledges and ladder to reach the passage above. Go to a pit with traps. Jump onto the pillar (when the wall is closed). Before you get to it the wall will be open. Jump, quickly now, to grab the crevice on the left. Then grab the one above it. Remember how the scarabs slide down once you grab them? Jump to grab the scarab on the right, then quickly jump to grab the one behind. Move fast again and jump to grab the crevice above! Wait for the wall to open now, then jump to grab the crevice beyond. Now grab the ledge behind. Head along the passage to the next area. Here you can see a Sphinx. Lara also sees an opening, with a switch on each side.
Climb down the ladder (left side) and drop down to the ground. Collect the shotgun ammo and pistol ammo there. Now make your way to the front of the Sphinx. Shoot the two rats you may encounter. Otherwise, do it after a brief cut scene which shows the front of the Sphinx. Go to the far left corner (with the Sphinx behind you). Here you'll find a large medipack. Go back and climb the ladder that is opposite of the Sphinx. Now you have the choice of going left or right. Since you must visit both anyway, it doesn't really matter which is first. Jump and grab the ledge to the left, then jump to land on the broken stairs you see. Now jump to the next stairs. Lara must vault onto the low block. Climb up these next 2 ledges then slide down the slope. Jump to grab the ledge ahead of you, and pull yourself up. Continue along the walkway until you reach the 3rd pillar to the left. You can use its crevices to reach the 2nd pillar. Again, use the crevices to reach the 3rd pillar. Climb to the highest crevice now and jump to grab the handhold on the wall behind. Climb, using the other handholds, to reach the top.
Two flying creatures (throwing fireballs) attack!! Kill them. Take care here, as the fireballs can push Lara off the edge. Head over to the other side of the ledge now. Jump to grab the horizontal pole you see, then jump to grab the next one. Finally, jump to grab the crevice ahead. Work your way around the two corners and jump to a ledge behind. Lara must now make her way down to use switch which raises a platform between the stairs. This will give you a direct access.
For the left-side opening, head through and go along the passage until you see a set of crashing blocks. Once they're open, run quickly past them. You'll then reach a 2nd set of crashing blocks This time, however, they're a little bigger. You don't have the time to make it across by simply jumping on the ledges. However, there's a gap between the stones when Lara lands on the ledges. Remember to crouch very time you jump onto a ledge, in order to avoid the stones. Continue to follow the passage and reach the next room.
The steps to the right lead to a switch. You can't do anything with it right now though. Jump into the pool and pick up a small medipack from the bottom. Climb out of the water using the low ledge. You can now see 4 small obelisks in the pool. Lara needs to raise these! Vault onto a broken ledge then jump to grab the handhold of the vertical stone panel. Continue to jump up until you reach the highest one. Lara's weight will then lower the panel, thereby raising the obelisk behind you. Once the panel reaches the bottom, it will become locked. The camera then shows that this trick also extended a ledge above the pool. Climb up the obelisk you just raised. Jump to grab the small square ledge behind. Now jump to grab the crevice on the right, then the next vertical panel you see. Jump to grab the highest handhold. Wait until the panel reaches the bottom and becomes locked. The obelisk behind Lara has raised, and the ledge above the pool has become more extended . Jump to grab the obelisk behind Lara, then traverse around the corner. Jump to grab the ledge that has been extended and pull up!
See the gold ring on the left hand wall? Lara must once again use the grapple to catch the ring and perform the wall run (in order to reach the crevice of the opposite wall). Once there, jump to grab a 3rd vertical panel and climb to the top. Remember, wait until it reaches the bottom and becomes locked. The obelisk behind Lara has been raised, ... and the ledge above the pool has been extended more. Now jump to grab the obelisk behind you. Make your way around the corner. Jump to grab the extended ledge and then pull yourself up. Head over to the other side of the extended ledge. Jump to the ledge in front of the closed door. You can now jump and grab the horizontal pole to the left (these next 2 poles slide down when you grab them, so jump quickly to grab the crevice in the wall). Once you've done that, release to grab the lower one then jump to grab a 4th vertical panel. Climb to the highest handhold. Remember to wait until the panel reaches the bottom and becomes locked. The obelisk behind Lara has raised and the camera shows that the ledge has extended even more, ... now creating a bridge!
Drop down into the pool then climb out of the water. Climb up the first obelisk Lara raised. Now jump to the small square ledge behind you, then jump to the crevice on the left. Jump again to grab the ladder. Climb as high as possible and jump to grab the left ladder. Again, climb as high as possible and jump to grab the right hand ladder. Now climb to the top and jump to grab the crevice on the left, then grab the next one. Jump to the ledge and head down the stairs. Use the switch you see there. We see another cut scene here showing the upside-down obelisk. It throws an energy light to all 4 of the pillars. This opens the door at the end of the bridge. You can reach the bridge by going down the ledges, or by dropping on it directly from here. Go aross the bridge and enter the room. Be ready as the door will close behind you, ... and a mutant creature attacks! Kill it and collect Ankh key #1 from its pedestal. Getting the key opens the door. It also opens the gate above the pool.
Drop into the pool and climb into the opening you see. Continue along the passage and return to the area with the Sphinx. Get ready for another uninvited guest, ... a centaur is waiting for you outside. He is prowling out front. Climb up the ladder opposite the Sphinx. Jump to grab the crevice on the right this time. Now, grab the next two poles that help you reach the broken stairs. The right-hand way leads nowhere, so climb the ladder. Climb onto the stone block to the left. Pick up some shotgun ammo and a large medipack. Drop back down and follow the walkway there. Jump to grab the crevice in the wall, then grab the next one. Jump to grab the ledge and pull up. Drop to the walkway below and, while facing the Sphinx, approach the right-hand pillar. Use its crevices to reach the top. Look out! Two flying creatures attack, their fireballs can take you out, so quickly kill them.
Want another secret? Look at the head of the Sphinx (the very top). You'll see a pair of mini SMGs. For Lara to get there, you need to jump off the edge and use the grapple to catch the ring on the ceiling. Now swing and jump to the head. Collect the guns and use the grapple once again to swing back to where you came from. Jump to grab the horizontal pole, then swing and jump to grab the opposite ledge. Make your way down and activate the switch that raises a platform between the stairs next to you (giving you direct access).
For the right-hand opening: Head through and follow the passage to the next pit. There are 2 walls that open and close. There are also 2 horizontal poles between them. The first one slides back in, and then out again (so you have to be quick about it). The pole extends when the first wall is about to close. This is the best time to jump and grab it (if you hesitate, you won't have time to complete the process). Once you've grabbed the first pole, continue swinging and jump to grab the 2nd pole as the second wall opens. Quickly jump to grab the opposte ledge. If the first pole slides back in and you fall, you can climb back up and try again (and again, and again, ... ). Go along the passage to reach the next room.
This room looks familiar. Once again you first have to raise the four obelisks in the water, before using the switch. Turn to your right and jump to grab the crevice in the wall, then jump to grab the next one. Now jump to grab the ladder and climb down to the bottom. Jump to grab the right hand ladder and climb to the bottom. Once there, jump to grab the crevice to the left. Release to grab the lower one you see. Jump to grab the handhold of a vertical panel. Continue jumping up until you reach the highest one. Again, Lara's weight will lower the panel thus raising the obelisk behind her. After the panel reaches the bottom, it will become locked. The camera now shows you that this little maneuver also extended a ledge above the pool. Jump to grab the obelisk you just raised and then climb to the top.
Jump to the small ledge behind you, then jump to grab the crevice on the right. Now jump to grab the one above. There are 4 horizontal poles behind Lara that slide down as you grab them. Quickly jump from pole to pole, until you reach the crevice on the other side. Jump to grab a 2nd vertical panel, then climb to the top. Remember, wait for it to reach the bottom and become locked! The obelisk behind Lara is raised, and the ledge above the pool has been extended more. Drop into the pool and climb out of the water (use the square ledge). Jump to land on the obelisk and jump to grab the crevice ahead. Jump to grab the next one. Jump to grab a 3rd vertical panel and climb to the top again. Wait until it's reached the bottom and becomes locked.
The obelisk behind you has been raised and the ledge above the pool has been extended. Jump to grab the obelisk behind Lara and climb to the top. Make your way around the corner. Jump to grab the extended ledge and pull up. Now jump to grab the horizontal pole, then swing and jump to grab the crevice ahead. Jump to grab a 4th vertical panel. Climb to the highest handhold (wait until the panel reaches the bottom and is locked). The obelisk behind Lara has been raised and the camera shows the ledge extending even more (creating a bridge).
Jump to grab the obelisk behind you and go around the corner. Jump to grab the bridge and pull yourself up. Go to the end and turn to face the left pair of poles. Use these to reach the crevice in the wall. Climb up the crevices and jump to grab the ladder. Now climb to the top and jump to grab the next ladder. Climb to the top and jump to grab the crevice on the right, then jump-grab the next. Jump to the ledge and head down the stairs. Activate the switch. A cut scene shows the upside-down obelisk. It throws an energy light to all four pillars, opening a door at the end of the bridge. Head back up the stairs, then make your way down again. Once you've reached the bottom of the second ladder, jump to grab the sill (on the doorway). Work around to the right, around the corner, and drop down. Collect artifact #1. Grab the sill and make your way back, then drop down to the bridge.
Careful, ... as you enter the room, the door closes behind you and a mutant creature attacks! Finish it off and collect Ankh key #2 from the pedestal. Upon getting the key, the door opens again (this also opens the gate above the pool). Now drop into the pool and climb out of the water. Head through the opening and go along the passage to return to the Sphinx area. Be ready, since once again 2 centaurs are waiting for Lara outside. Once they're taken care of, head up the stairs in front of the Sphinx. Use the 2 keys to then open the door. Go through this door and down the ramps. Look out for rats here! Pick up some more shotgun ammo along the way. You'll reach a ledge above a pool with two large statues. Collect the small medipack you see. See the opening on the other side? This is where Lara needs to go. Unfortunately, the level of the water right now won't help you reach it. You'll have to find some way to raise the level in order to reach the opening!
Dive into the pool and swim between the two statues. Swim down and to the bottom. Here you'll find a lever. Pull it to lower the water level to the statues' feet. Now swim back and climb on the ledge of the right-hand statue. Climb on the block and jump to grab the next 2 crevices on the foot. Jump to grab a pole behind you, then jump to grab the crevice of the other foot (before the pole slides down). Make your way around the foot. Jump to grab the ring on the wall. Perform a wall run here. Jump to grab the ledge on the other side, then pull up and climb up the ladder. Press "jump" to leap off the ladder and grab the handhold behind Lara. Jump to grab the upper handhold, then the one to the left. Finally, jump to grab the next one above it, then traverse around the hand of the statue.
Another puzzle. The 4 scarabs on the wall rotate when you shoot at them. Paintings on the floor show the correct position that the scarabs on the wall must have. Each scarab rotates about forty-five degrees. The left ones rotate counter-clockwise and the right ones clockwise. Shoot the top left scarab 4 times. Then shoot the bottom left twice, ... the bottom right 4 times ... and the top right twice. This opens a gate up above. Now climb into the alcove and activate the switch to raise the water level to the knees of the statue. Drop back down and go up the ladder.
Jump to grab the crevice of the arm and traverse around it. Jump to grab the crevice above, then jump-grab the next 2 on the right. Shimmy to the end, then jump to grab the horizontal pole behind you. Swing and jump to grab the opposite crevice. From here, jump to grab the ankh symbol. This opens a gate on the other statue (it's timed). Release to drop into the pool then quickly swim to reach the gate (it will be quicker if you swim on the surface and dive after reaching the front side of the statue).
After you pass through the gate, surface and climb out of the water. Now climb around to the front of the statue. Opening the gate that leads to the Relic - See the movable block on the ledge below? Push it to throw it in the water! Jump into the pool and swim between the statues. Use the lever again to lower the water level to the statues' feet. Swim back to the block. Move it diectly beneath the timed gate. Climb up the ledges of the other statue (until you reach the ledge where you solved the scarab puzzle). Continue climbing until you reach the ankh symbol that opens the timed gate. Grab it and open the gate, then drop into the pool. Swim back and climb on the ledge of the statue (the one with the block). Climb onto it and pass through the gate (quickly) before it closes.
Now use the crevices to reach the ledge above. Exit to the front and drop to the ledge where the block was before. Hang from the edge, then shimmy right. Release to grab the crevice of the foot of the statue. Traverse around to the right. Jump to grab the ankh symbol, thus opening a gate on this side of this statue. Once again, climb up the ledges of the other statue (until you reach the ledge where you solved the scarab puzzle). Use the switch (again) to raise the water level to the statue's knees this time. Drop back down and climb up the ladder. Make your way to the ankh symbol, ... opening the timed gate. Once you've grabbed it, drop into the pool. Quickly make your way to the gate. Go through.
Notice the paintings on the floor? Lara will have to solve one more scarab puzzle here after climbing out of the water. Shoot the top left scarab 2 times. Don't shoot the bottom left. Shoot the bottom right 2 times, ... and the top right 4 times. This opens a gate above. Climb into the opening and activate the switch. This raises the water level to the statues' arms this time around. Swim outside and go to other statue. Head through the opening and climb out of the water. Pick up the scarab, then quickly jump to grab the crevice above. Two horizontal poles behind Lara will slide down when she grabs them, so be fast. Quickly use them to reach the crevice at the other side. Now traverse around the corner and pull up into the opening. Use the handholds to the right to help Lara reach the top. Head over to the other side of the ledge. Jump to grab the ankh symbol. This action raises the water level more, making the ledge above accessible now! But before climbing there, don't forget to pick up the Relic. Swim to the gate you opened and collect Horus Idol. Swim back outside and surface. Then climb out of the water using the square ledge.
Go through the opening now and follow along the passage to come to a room with pillars. Heads up! A couple of centaurs, along with 2 more mummies, are about to attack you. Better have a powerful weapon ready. (Of course, if you have trouble with them you can always run back to the room with the statues and dive into the water. If you're lucky a couple of the them will follow you and fall into the water.) After you've killed them, you'll notice a closed door at the end of the room. There's a block on each side, where you have to use the 2 pieces of the Scion (the ones you have so far). To reach each block, you have to use the crevices of the pillars. Before doing that though, why not go for another secret (which is in an alcove at the far left of the room)? Upon entering this room, start with the first (red) pillar to the right. Use its crevices to reach the 2nd pillar. From the highest crevice, you have to jump and use the grapple here (to grab the gold ring on the ceiling). Then, swing and jump to grab the crevice of the 4th pillar on the left side of the room . From the highest crevice, jump to grab the 5th pillar. From the middle crevice, you can now jump to grab the crevice of the inner gray pillar. Climb to the highest crevice and jump to the alcove to collect artifact #2.
Don't drop down yet. Jump to grab the pillar that you came from before. Now, from the highest crevice jump to grab the 5th (red) pillar that you came from. From the highest crevice again, jump over to a nearby block. Here, use the "Scion of Qualopec" to remove half the bars that block the exit. NOW you can drop down and go back to the entrance! Climb up the first pillar. Use its crevices to reach the 2nd pillar. From the highest crevice, jump to grab the 2nd inner (grey) pillar. Climb to the highest crevice again, make your way around ... then jump to grab (with your grapple) the gold ring on the wall. Lara will again have to perform the wall run here. Jump to grab the 4th (grey) pillar. After you're there, climb to the highest crevice and jump to grab the 5th (grey) pillar. Climb to the highest crevice, again, and jump to grab the 5th (red) pillar. Climb to the top and jump to grab the block. Now Lara can pull up, and use the Scion of Tihocan. This removes the other bars, thereby opening the exit for you. Now drop down and go through.
Now we see a cut scene. Lara approaches the pedestal and collects the piece of the Scion. Things start to shake, and a door opens on the other side. Lara manages to get out in one piece. When she exits, she then fits all the pieces together. She then has another a vision. It's one she saw when she first fit the two pieces at the end of "Tihocan". But, this vision picks up where the last one left off. Two rulers ask a woman to defend herself for her actions in the council. The woman says that Atlantis is in ruins and everything "must burn". Only then can the Seventh Age begin. For using her Scion against the rulers, she is expeled from the sacred order of the three ......condemned for all eternity. As Lara awakes from this vision, she finds Natla standing next to her. Natla grabs the Scion from her hands. A man then grabs Lara from behind. Two others snatch her guns from her. Natla looks at the Scion. Lara sees Natla as the Queen of Atlantis, concluding that the Scion holds its history. She asks Natla what the "7th age" is.
Natla orders her men to kill Lady Croft. Now get ready for an interactive cut scene. You'll need to press the right buttons in order to save Lara. Once you've saved Lara from certain death, she dives into the water. After surfacing, she sees a car leaving. Lara climbs out of the water and hops on a bike, in an attempt to reach the car. Natla and her men are already aboard a boat. Lara uses her grapple to reach the boat. Once she's on board, she opens a hatch.
Level 12: Natla's Mines
A cut scene quickly shows Lara emerging from a hatch on the boat. She then dives into the water, in pursuit of the small boat she spotted heading toward an island.Lara begins this level with no weapons, ... only medipacks (and some shotgun ammo) that you've found up to this point. Ahead is a pool with a boat and a waterfall on the right. Swim to the right and behind the waterfall. Climb out of the water there and follow the tunnel. Follow it to reach an opening overlooking a pool. Make a running jump to grab a horizontal pole. Swing and jump to grab a metal bar (ledge) on the wall ahead. Climb to the left, then jump to grab another handhold. Now, jump back to grab the rope (behind you) holding the crate. Drop down on top of the crate, then make a running jump to the next crate. Turn to your right and do another running jump, this time to the top of some stacked crates. You'll find a large medipak here.
Now jump (running jump) back to the dangling crate you just came from. Make a running jump from the second hanging crate and grab the rope dangling from the ceiling. Hang near the bottom of the rope and face the handhold (crevice) to the left of the waterfall. Get your momentum going then swing, jump and grab the crevice. Traverse to the right, under the falls, and jump back to the ledge behind. Follow the tunnel to the next point.
Control Room: Lara now comes to a large area with a small building to the right. A set of tracks, to the left, lead you to another area where you'll find a glassed room (you can see your guns through the glass) and a fence. Climb up on the yellow box behind the building and pick up the red fuse. Drop back down and return to the other area you were in before. Secret: Between the two buildings are some small boxes and a stack of large boxes. Climb onto the small boxes and jump to the larger crates. Climb onto the crate stacked on top and collect a large medipak.
Run ahead to the left, and up the stairs to the control room. Place the red fuse in its corresponding slot of the control panel. Press the button (next to the red slot). This moves a hanging crate above the glassed building, giving you the access to an opening in the wall behind. Return downstairs and go to the glass building. Locate the movable yellow crate next to it. Climb onto it, take a running jump to grab the edge of the small building and pull up. Move the large metal crate above, then go over to the other side of the roof.
Jump from the top of the building onto the closest wooden post. Now jump to the second post. Jump to grab the handhold on the wall, then to the one on the left. Jump up to grab the upper ledge, then jump back to grab the horizontal pole behind. Swing and jump to the slope of a conveyor belt. Slide then, before reaching the end, jump to grab the opposite ledge. Pull up and collect the artifact #1. Drop to the ground and make your way to the glassed building (with the yellow crate). Climb onto the crate there and then on top of the building.
Make your way around the hanging crate, then jump into the opening in the wall. Follow along the passage and to the right (above where you entered this area). Take a running jump to the opposite opening. Follow the tunnel to the end and drop down below and head up the slope. Push the movable yellow crate off the edge and to the ground. Run/jump across the gap and grab the opposite walkway. Pull up. Turn right and continue to the end. Run/jump to grab the top of some fallen grating on the other side. Jump to grab a higher metal bar and climb to the left. Then grab the one above it. Jump to to the left and grab the walkway, then pull up and go to the end. Now jump to the fallen walkway ahead. Head for the other end. Drop down behind the fence onto a ledge. Here you'll find the green fuse.
Turn and face the pit. Find the ring on the wall (beneath a small square). Jump off the ledge and use the grapple to catch the ring. Perform the wall run again. When Lara reaches the highest point to the left, jump to grab the handhold behind you (wall run back and forth to build up momentum). Jump to grab the square ledge on the right. Pull up. Climb the ladder to the top. Jump to the left to clear the fenced area. Grab the edge of the control room. Drop to the crate below, and from there down to the ground. Trace your steps back to the main control room. Climb the stairs and place the green fuse in its slot. Press the button to swing the hanging crate even further. Press the button of the red fuse again in order to move the crate toward the stacked boxes.
Now exit the control room and head downstairs. Climb onto the small crates (opposite the stairs). Jump to the lower green crate. Climb onto the next box, then jump to grab the hanging crate. Climb around to the left and around the corner. Hang from the middle of this side (there's a vertical line on the crate). Have Lara jump back to land on a corner of the walkway. Go to the end of the walkway and enter the tunnel on the left. At the T-section, head to the right. Climb down the ladder, then a shorter one. Continue to the edge of the alcove and jump to grab the handhold ahead. Safety drop to the ground below. Avoid the rat you find here if you can (you can jump onto the green box if you need to). Continue to the other side of the pit and collect the blue fuse.
Leaving the pit: See the two vertical pipes on the shorter wall ahead? Climb onto the box and run/jump to grab the pipe after the steam from the pipes has vented. Now climb to the top, then wait for the steam of the second pipe to escape, and jump forward to grab it. Climb to the top and jump back to a small square platform behind you (just above the first pipe). Now pull up before the steam can hurt Lara. Maneuver around the small platform. See the rotating mechanism ahead? With the flat side facing Lara, jump to grab the right side. Move to the right and lean out (press the right direction key). Wait for the mechanism to rotate until you reach the next box, then jump to grab the edge of the bin. It starts rotating down, so quickly jump to grab the next box. Shimmy to the right quickly, then jump to grab the bottom edge of the metal duct on the wall behind you.
While hanging from the duct, traverse around the corner. Wait for the steam of the vertical pipe behind you to be vented. Jump to grab the pipe and quickly climb up out of range of the steam. Remember, you can use the "interact" button to make Lara climb faster! Now watch the second steam vent go off, climb to the top of the pipe. Jump to grab the top edge of the duct behind. Climb around the corner (to the left) and jump to grab the handhold behind you. Climb to the right and over to the alcove above. Turn and run/jump into the opening ahead. Pull yourself up, then climb up the ladder. Continue to the other side of the tunnel and climb up the next ladder. At the T-section, go to the left to return to the area with the control room.
Control room again: Drop down and go up the stairs to the control room. First, use the buttons of the red and green fuses once more. This will position the hanging crate above the building. Now place the blue fuse in its slot (blue) and press the button on the right. This lowers the crate, thereby destroying the roof the building. Exit and, once again, climb on the movable yellow box, then to the top of the glassed room. Drop down into the room and collect your pistols. Shoot the windows and jump out, then deal with the rats. Head along the passage where you entered this area and return to the ledge by the waterfall.
Artifact #2: Dive into the pool, swim to the boat and climb aboard. Shoot the rope anchoring the boat to shore, thus releasing it. Turn and wait for the boat to reach the corner of the left-hand wall. See the handholds? Once the boat stops, jump to grab the first handhold (ledge). Climb to the right and jump to grab next handhold. Jump to grab the ledge above, then jump back to grab the one behind you. Climb around the corner (to the right). Jump to grab the next ledge (above the alcove with the "Natla Technologies" crates). Traverse to the right and drop down. Collect artifact #2 behind the crate.
The Relic: Return and dive into the pool. Swim behind the waterfall. Follow the tunnel until you reach the overlooking the pool. Now target the rope that holds the right-hand crate. When the box falls to the ledge below, it opens (you hear a sound signaling that the secret has been found). Dive into the water, swim to shore and enter the crate. Inside you'll find the Chalice of Torment. Now swim back to the tunnel behind the waterfall. Go to the higher opening and make your way across the horizontal pole and the handholds once again. At the 2nd handhold, jump back to grab the rope where the crate with the relic was. Climb down the rope and adjust your position, if necessary, so you're facing the rope near the waterfall. Swing and jump to grab it. See the handhold by the falls? Swing-jump and grab it. Now work around to the right and jump through the falls to the ledge behind it. Follow the tunnel back.
Control Room: Return to the control room area again. Follow the tracks to the left (past the control room) and go to the area with the second glassed building ... where you found the red fuse. There may be two rats close by, kill them if you must. There's another rat down in the pit. Remember though, that you'll have to find your way back to the top of the pit. Shoot out the room's windows (vandalizism of Natla's property is fun) and go to the right. Climb onto a cart, then jump to grab the ledge above. Climb to the left, and pull up into the room. Go to the right-end of the room and use the button there to move the machine onto the track. Drop down and approach the back of it. Climb on it and press the "Interact" button to start it up.
A cut scene plays. Lara returns rides back to the control room area, only to find the tracks blocked by a large crate. Larson appears from around the crates, holding the blue fuse. He tells her that it's the end of the line and tells her that the Scion belongs to Natla. Lara has no time for this and asks Larson to back off or he dies, threatening to shoot him if he doesn't give way. Larson knows how bad Lara wants the piece, but he can't let her pass. In fact, he believes that Lara could never kill him for it. Larson decides to call her bluff. "That's just not who you are," he says. And she responds, "I'm not who you think I am."
Another Interactive cut scene begins. Larson approaches Lara with a shotgun. You must press the buttons (indicated on screen) to make Lara fire on him three times. If not, Larson will kill her! Once you're successful (and Larson finally falls dead), ... Lara then reclaims the blue fuse. Realizing what she has done, she feels sorry for him.
Collect the shotgun from Larson's body and return to the control room. Place the blue fuse in its slot and use the button to raise the crate. Now head back downstairs and use the machine. It will move on the tracks (press the "Interactive" button). When it reaches the end of the tunnel, it will break the boards. Get off the car and enter the next room.
Pool of lava with ledges: Make your way to the end of the tracks. Run/jump to the broken support beam on the left. Turn and notice the 50 caliber pistols on the rock ledge (beneath the tracks you came from). To get to them, jump onto the small, vertical metal structure emerging from the lava. Now jump to the ledge and collect the pistols. Turn and jump back to the metal structure. Jump to grab the ledge of the beam you came from, and climb around the corner to the right. Jump back to grab the vertical pole behind you. Climb all the way to the top. Jump to the right onto another metal structure sticking out of the lava. Jump to grab the ledge of the next beam. Climb around the corner to the left. Jump up to grab the handhold, then jump back to land on the support column behind you. See the ring under the ledge up ahead? Run/jump off the ledge and use the grapple to catch the it. Swing/jump to the slope ahead. Jump to grab the horizontal beam (before sliding into the lava). Once you've done that, the pole rotates 90 degrees.
Turn to see what's on the opposite rock. Swing/jump to land on there. Collect the small medipack and artifact #3. Turn to your right and jump on 2 vertical structures. Jump on the slope and jump to grab the pole. After it rotates, swing /jump to the next slope. Before sliding to the end, jump to grab the ledge of the pillar. Climb to the top and turn around. Run/jump off the ledge and grab the ring on the ceiling with your grapple. Swing /jump to the alcove. Collect the 2 mini SMG's clips and a large medipack there. Now swing back to the pillar and jump to the tracks at the other side. The passage gets you an area with some rocks. Jump onto the lighter-colored, sloped boulder on the right and before Lara slides down, jump to grab the ledge above and to the left. Pull up and climb the rocks to the next area.
In this cut scene, Lara enters the next area. She tells a henchman (stationed here to guard the pyramid entrance) to get out of her way or he'll meet the same fate as Larson. The fat guy starts approaching her. Lara points her guns at him when the skateboarder suddenly joins them.
Now get ready for an Interactive cut scene. Press the right buttons (as the icons appear on screen) to save Lara from certain death. Note: Down, Up, Up on the PC (S, W, W also work if you're using the default keys) or Circle, R1, X on the PS2. During their confrontation Lara shoots the fat guy who then falls, but isn't dead yet. The skateboarder exchanges gun shots with Lara. The fat guy stabs the skateboarder for getting in his way. When the skateboarder is ready to kill Lara, he uses his last energy to shoot the fat guy ... who then falls dead. Once it's all over, Lara picks up her pistols.
Collect a set of mini SMGs from the now-dead skateboarder. You'll find 2 movable crates in this room. Push the right-hand one toward the rocks (on the right). Climb up them to collect a large medipack. Drop down again and push the left block over toward the rocks to the left. Now climb onto the block, then over to the first ledge. Jump to grab the crevice and pull up onto the upper ledge. Jump to grab the next crevice and climb around the corner to the right. Then jump to the next ledge on the right. See what's in the alcove behind? Drop down and jump to the slope. Before sliding down, jump to grab the edge of the alcove. Now pull yourself up and collect the large medipack and 2 SMG's ammo. Return to the top ledge of the rocks.
Artifact #4: Now you have a good view of the side of the pyramid. You have to jump on the blunt pressure spikes (with symbols) that you see here. There are six of them, ... 3 on the left and another 3 on the right-hand side. They're part of the door control mechanism. When you jump on one that has symbols, it will sink. You then have to jump off before it reaches the bottom! You've probably spotted the Artifact on a ledge on the other side, but you have to jump from the blunt spike with the symbols that is closest to the artifact. If the spire is down, you can't get the artifact and you'll have to start over. Once Lara depresses all six of these (by standing on top of them) a door will be unlocked. You can then use the switch in the alcove (near the top of the pyramid) to open the door.
Note: If you keep failing, continue with opening the door and let the game load the next level. The spires will rise up and won't sink when you jump on them. That way, you can collect the artifact easier. Even if you load the next level, the artifact will register in your stats.After you've stepped on all six of them, return to the top and jump to the opening. Now use the switch to activate a mechanism which opens a door at the bottom of the slope.
Level 13: The Great Pyramid
Slide down the slope and enter the door you opened. Continue along the hallway illuminated by some Atlantean symbols. You'll find some SMG ammo on the way down. Farther on, you come to a room with six cocoons. There's a closed door in the back left corner (it will open later). Go to the other end of the room and pick up the two sets of SMG clips on the right. Now approach the exit.A cut scene shows Lara entering the room. There is a huge lava pool at the bottom. She takes a look above and notices something in an alcove. She sees Natla, standing there holding the Scion. She then disappears from view inside a room and we see a weird flash of energy. The place starts to shake and the camera shows the outside area. The rocks at the top of the mountain shatter and we see a golden pyramid. Inside, Lara returns to the room with the cocoons. One of the pods bursts open and a flying creature of some kind is released.
Once the cut scene is over, the flying mutant begins to hurl fireballs, and two cat mutants hatch from other sacs. Draw pistols and kill them. The shotgun is a good choice here (for either type of mutant) at close range. If you already have the lots of SMG ammo though, you may want to use it. After the mutants have been killed, the door at the end of the room where you came in will close, while the door next to it opens. Go through this door and climb the ladder to the area above. Turn and enter the room above the six cocoons. Two of them will explode and more flying mutants are released from their pods! Quickly draw weapons and try to kill them from here. When you've killed them, collect the SMG ammo and the 2 large medipacks you find (one on the right side walkway, and another on the walkway between the two holes). Exit through the opening at the far end of the room on the right. Now follow the passage to the next area, .... a higher ledge overlooking the huge lava pool.
Tall room: Collect the the large medipack and SMG and shotgun ammo on the left. Shoot the button on the wall to the right. Draw guns and shoot until all of the symbols light up. This will extend a ring above the button which will remain there for a few seconds. It will also burst a pod and release another flying mutant. You can use regular pistols to shoot it down (if you step back into the doorway). Move to the opposite side of the hall and use the door frame for cover whenever it throws fireballs at you. Once it falls, go back out onto the ledge. By the time you've killed it, the ring will have retracted inside the wall. Now shoot the button again. Jump to grab the crevice in the pillar and climb around. Jump to grab the ring with your grapple. Perform the wall run again to reach the handhold in the opposite corner. Jump to grab the crevice in the beam above, climb around and jump to grab the ledge behind you. Pull up.
2nd ledge: To get to the ledge on the opposite side, you need to perform the wall run before the ring retracts. Remember that there's a ticking sound each time one of the lighted symbols goes out. If you're able to hear that, you can count along with it to gauge your progress. Hint: To make the run as short as possible, you should begin on the right-hand side of the ledge (near the wall) facing the big support beam. Shoot the next button until all the symbols around are illuminated and the ring extends. Again, it will stay there for about 15 seconds and extend a ledge that is higher on the other side. Another flying creature will be released, and this time the ledge you're standing on will start sliding into the wall ..... kill the mutant Now shoot the button again. Jump to grab the crevice in the pillar, then grab the next. Climb around and jump to grab (with your grapple) the ring above the button. Perform the wall run and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar in the other (opposite) corner. Jump to grab the upper crevice and climb around. Jump to grab the next crevice above, then jump back to the ledge behind you. Pull up.
3rd ledge: Use regular pistols again to shoot the 3rd button (until all the symbols around it glow). This time, it will bring up two rings, .... one above the button and another one on the opposite wall. It will also extends 3 horizontal poles, .... two on your side and one on the wall with the button. Before you can do anything, another pair of winged mutants burst out of their pods. Switch to more powerful weapons to kill them. Don't target the buttons instead of the mutants! Move back and forth along the ledge to avoid the mutant's fireballs. Try not to jump or roll, or Lara is likely to go off the edge.
As soon as you've killed the mutants, switch back to pistols and shoot the button again until all the symbols are glowing. You have about 18 seconds here to make it to to the next ledge (before everything retracts into the wall again). Jump on the slope of the pillar, then jump to grab the first pole, and so on. Turn, swing/jump to grab the crevice in the pillar. Climb around, jump to grab the pole, then immediately jump to grab the ring with your grapple (above the button). Now jump to the slope in the opposite corner. Before Lara slides too far down, jump to grab the next ring. Perform the wall run again to reach the crevice in the next pillar. Jump to grab the crevice above, climb around. Jump to grab the ledge behind you and pull up.
Hint: If this all becomes a bit too frustrating, and Lara keeps falling to her death, ... try ignoring the horizontal poles and simply jump directly to grab the first ring with the grapple. Make sure Lara catches the ring by pressing and holding the "jump" button (to jump higher and further). Then, climb up the line a little and perform the wall run.
4th ledge: Use pistols to shoot the 4th button until all the symbols glow. It will extend two horizontal poles (and a slope from the next wall) which will stay there for about 9 seconds this time. Change to more powerful weapons, as two more flying muntants are released. Kill them before you do anything else. Change back to pistols and shoot the button to extend the poles and the ledge again. Jump to the slope in the corner. Jump to grab the first pole, then swing/jump to the extended slope. Jump again to grab the next pole, swing/jump to grab the crevice of the pillar in the other corner. Jump to grab the upper crevice and climb around to the left. Jump back to grab the ledge behind you and pull up.
5th ledge: Shoot (with regular pistols again) the fifth button until all the symbols around it begin to glow. This extends two rings, .... one on the wall with the button and othe other on the opposite wall. They will remain there for approximately 15 seconds. Before doing anything else though, get out the heavy-duty weapons and kill two more flying mutants! Once they're dead, switch back to regular pistols. Shoot the button again, and jump to the pillar-slope in the corner. Jump/grab the first ring with your grapple. Perform the wall run and jump to the slope in the next corner. Jump off and grab the next ring with your grapple. Perform the wall run to reach the crevice of the pillar in the left corner. Jump to grab the upper handhold and climb around to the left. Jump back to grab the wide ledge behind you. Pull up. Collect the large medipack and some pistol ammo on the ledge.
Artifact: See the alcove on the other side? Run/jump from this ledge to grab the crevice on the corner column. Climb around to the left and pull up into the alcove. Collect the artifact then run/jump from the left side of the cave opening, over to the ledge by the doorway. Guess what? Another flying mutant has been released, ... run into the hallway and turn to kill it before it kills you!
Hallway with traps: Follow the hallway around the corner. This passage leads you to a series of traps. First, pick up the two sets of shotgun ammo on the floor to the left. When the triple closing doors hae opened. These look more complicated than they really are, just watch the timing then run past through. Now the energy guns! Wait until they stop. Stand facing the medipak (a few steps away from it so the energy bolts don't hit Lara). As the first gun fires, step forward and collect the large medipack. Then step forward to stand between the first two guns. When the guns stop, run and halt just before the triple closing doors. Again, run when the energy guns stop! Stand just before the triple closing door. Run through as it opens. Continue along the passage to the next room.
Mirror creature: Before sliding down the ramp, take a look across the room (to see something that moves when you move). The humanoid creature at the top of the other ramp mirrors Lara's every movement. Be careful not to accidentally shoot it. (You don't hurt it, and it won't hurt you.) Now slide down into the room, ... weapons at the ready! Three mutants attack, so kill them. Remember, don't shoot at Lara's double! Once the mutants are dead, approach the middle of the room and examine the creature in the mirror. When just Lara's mirror creature is left, you can explore the room freely. Pick up the two sets of SMG clips from behind two of the corner columns. To leave this room, you have to destroy the mirror creature. Shooting it won't work, ... you have to lure it into a trap!
The creature's side (where it can be trapped) is the one you came from. Your side is the other one. Rotate the wheel mechanism, turn it counter-clockwise, to extend two small ledges .... one beneath each of the ladders. These are timed (they retract into the wall after about 10 seconds), so run/jump to grab the ledge on the right ...with the entrance to your back. Pull up and climb the ladder. Jump to grab the handhold to the right. Then, before the steam of the crevice pushes you back, jump back to the ledge behind. You'll land on a trapdoor which closes the exit door. (As you do this, the flesh creature does the exact same things on the other side of the room!) Collect a large medipack. Get ready for a guest. As you go further, another flying mutant is released from it's pod, ..... kill it. Pick up the pistol ammo. Now use the switch to open the trapdoor you landed on earlier. The trapdoor is timed and you have just 30 seconds to lure the creature in here and kill it.
Run off the walkway and land on the ground near the wheel mechanism. Grab the wheel and, with the help of Lara's twin, turn it to extend the small ledges. Run toward the ladder leading up to the walkway with the pressure pad. Run/jump to grab the small ledge. Then pull up, climb the ladder and jump to grab the handhold to the right. Immediately jump back to avoid the steam vent and land on the pressure plate. If you make it on time, a cut scene shows the last part of your jump. Lara jumps on the pressure plate and since the creture follows your every move, it too jumps back! However, it falls through the trapdoor and into the lava pool below. The creature dies as Lara comments "Talk about being your own worst enemy".
Collect the large medipack you see. Weapons ready? A flying mutant is released from it's pod, so kill it. Pick up the shotgun ammo here. Use the switch to open the exit door. Don't step on the pressure plate! Drop down and rotate the wheel mechanism to extend the small ledges. With your back to the entrance, climb on the one that will lead you to the exit (the right one) and climb up the ladder. Jump to grab the vent on the right, then jump back to land on the trapdoor behind you and cross the walkway to the exit. Go through the door.
Room with lava pit & exit: Follow the hallway into the next room. It has a lava pool and pounding block traps on both sides. There are two switches in the room (beyond each set of traps). One opens the exit door on the other side of the lava pool. The other extends a bridge to said door. It really doesn't matter which one you use first. The right hand switch opens the door opposite the entrance and the left switch extends a ladder so you can reach the door.
To get past the trap on the right approach the blocks, wait until they are just about to extend, then take a running jump onto the first one. Jump from there to the middle block and then jump over the 3rd block to the ledge beyond. Pick up the large medipack and use the switch to open the exit. A flying mutant rises out of the lava pit. Get out that shotgun and kill it. Now make your way back across the pounding blocks the same way you did before.
Go around and approach the 2nd trap. Wait for the first block to retract then run into the space between it and the next one. As long as you stand on the gray stones, and not the bands with the glowing symbols, you're safe. Repeat this for the remaining blocks. Have your shotgun ready! Pull the switch. This extends the bridge to the exit, and brings another winged mutant up from the pit. Kill it.
Relic:Take a look across the pit, there's a large hole in the wall. Cross the bridge. Draw weapons and shoot the rock above. It collapses, crashing to the floor below. Drop to the ramp and jump to grab the ring beneath the bridge with your grapple. Swing over to the alcove ahead and pick up the large medipack there. Follow the tunnel and climb up the ladder. Collect the "Torc of Embitterment", climb into the opening on the left and drop down to the other side. Cross the bridge and run/jump to the opposite side to end this level, .... one more to go!
Level 14: The Final Conflict
A cut scene shows Lady Croft entering the room. She sees the 3 pieces of the Scion rotating on the alter. Then she notices the large pod above her. Now Natla appears, telling her that she has reached the top and .... and there's nowhere to go but down!It's quite obvious that Natla's goal is to rebuild the army of Atlantis. She tells Lara that with the Scion she can create anything she wants! But, it takes 3 to rule, so Natla asks Lara to join her. Lara believes Natla is insane. Natla reminds her that this is exactly what Lady Croft (and her father) had been searching for all this time. The very answers she seeks are hidden within the Scion. Lara feels that she is here for a reason. Lara then apologizes to her father, ... but not because she intends to accept Natla's offer. Then, she suddenly shoots the Scion! Natla tries to stop her and they both fall. Lara is able to catch the ledge above, while Natla hurtles to the lava below. Once Lady Croft climbs up to safety, a new enemy appears ...... a huge creature emerges from the pod.
Giant creature: Once the cut scene ends, get ready to kill the creature. (Note: On this platform you'll find two large medipacks, a couple of SMG clips and some shotgun ammo.) You can't kill it easily, however! Since your objective is to get the creature to tumble into the lava below, you have to destroy its left hand. You need to do this, because it will grab the edge and try to pull itself back up onto the platform. See the bars located at the upper-right of your screen? The yellow one is the creature's health bar (it doesn't have to drop to zero). The red bar is it's rage. When you continually shoot at the creature, the bar fills. It will attack! Don't bother shooting at the creature when it has it's back to the wall. You want to send it over the edge, and there's only one side of the ledge that doesn't touch the wall! You want to send it over the ledge, of course, because this drops the creature to a lava pit below.
Position Lara close to the edge. Move side to side (bullet time) and shoot to send him over the edge. It will grab hold of the ledge with it's right hand and try to pull up with the left. It will jump up quickly at first. However, once you've done more damage to the arm, it's recovery time will slow. After you've shot it the first time and it pulls up, continue to shoot until it becomes enraged. When it attacks Lara, blast it off the edge again! If done right, an orange mark will appear on its left hand while it's pulling up. Start shooting immediately at the left hand, ... to weaken it's grip and destroy it! Seeing as how you've destroyed the hand it uses to pull up, it's now helpless. Shoot the remaining hand (the right one) until the creature falls into the lava pit below. (Note: Just in case the creature grabs her and decides to have a light snack, start shooting! This will make the creature spit up Lara.)
A door opens. Follow the passage and jump across a stream of lava onto the platform. Run/jump to a small platform ahead. Turn right and run/jump to the next ledge to pick up a large medipack. Jump on top of the pole you see ahead, then onto the next one (to the left). Now jump to grab the ledge and pull up. Look out, a flying demon attacks you! Shoot it, while taking care not to fall off the platform. Use the lever to make the ledge move into the wall, while another platform ahead is extended toward you. Once the second ledge is fully extended, jump toward it (it will start to withdraw again once you grab hold) and enter the passage. Pick up the shotgun ammo you find there and continue on.
Lava Pits: As you enter, you're attacked by a centaur. Kill it, collect the shotgun ammo and large medipack by the closed door (on the left). Go to the other end and use the switch there. The door will close, ... but another door will open. Shoot the flying demon that now appears from one of the pods. Go through the new door you just opened and into the next chamber. Once you've killed the two mutants you find there, head over to the other side of the room. Collect the shotgun and pistol ammo on the right.
Artifacts: Jump into the water. Use the underwater lever to extend a ledge (just to the right of the entrance). Climb out of the water again and onto the platform. As you approach the ledge, another creature is released below. Climb onto the ledge and kill it from safety. Climb into the opening in the wall and collect a large medipack. Climb into the next opening and push the movable crate into the room with the lava. Turn around and notice the artifact on the ledge! Jump there, grab artifact #1 then jump back to the opening again. Drop down to the room with the lava pits. Move the crate toward the platform, next to the entrance. Climb onto the crate and collect the small medipack you find there. A flying demon attacks, so kill it. Climb onto the ledge above the entrance. Use the lever to open the door. Drop back down and move the crate. Push it outside, just beneath the alcove. Climb onto the crate, then up into the alcove. Collect artifact #2 and drop back down. Push the crate back into the chamber, ... against the platform by the entrance.
Climb onto the crate, then onto the platform. Jump to grab the crevice (fiery ledge) above the lava. Quickly shimmy left (before the steam hits you) and make your way around to the ledge in the other corner. Jump and grab the ring on the wall with your grapple. Run along the wall to reach the ledge on the left. Shimmy to the left and jump to grab the edge of the opening above. Pull up and collect some more pistol ammo. Climb down to the lower room and pick up the shotgun ammo. Drop to the room with the pool, ... behind the rocks. Jump over to grab a stone panel with symbols. It will then slide down. Now release. Before it goes up again, shoot the button (target) to open one of the three round gates in the pool. Now climb over the rocks, back down into the lower chamber. Two more stone panels each hide a button. There is one at the far left, and another one at the far (right) corner of the room.
Shoot the buttons (targets) to open the other two gates. Once you've used the left one, a flying demon is released from it's pod (after you shoot the last target). Kill it. Jump into the water and swim through the opened gate. Collect a small medipack behind the second gate. Swim to the end of the tunnel and into the next cavern. Climb out of the water and pick up the pistol ammo then run down into the passage there.
Lava River: Head along the passage. Jump to the ledge on the right of the lava river. Continue ahead and jump to the opposite side. There turn right and run toward the edge. Watch out for falling lava! Jump to grab the ladder and climb to the top. Jump to grab the fiery ledge on the left. Quickly jump to grab the alcove above. Before it spews steam, jump to grab the crevice above, ... then the one on the left. Shimmy to the left and jump to grab the next ledge. Release to grab the lower ledge. Pull up and collect a large medipack. Hang from the ledge again, then let go to grab the ledge below. Jump to grab the ledge behind you, then let go again to grab the lower one. Drop to the ground.
Turn and jump onto the floating stone by the lava stream coming from above. Don't stay there too long. The stone will sink and Lara will come into contact with the lava! Jump to the next floating stone on the right. The two floating stones in the lava river sink when you jump on them, so you have to be quick. When you reach the second one, turn right and jump on the safe stone ledge. Go behind the lava waterfall and collect artifact #3. Then go back. Jump on the stone ledge in the lava. Before it sinks, jump to grab the handhold up ahead. Jump to grab the upper handhold and shimmy around the corner to the left. Jump to land on the pole behind you then turn right. When the opening stops shooting out fire, jump to the next pole. Jump to grab the horizontal bar, swing and jump to the next floating stone. Before it sinks, jump to the safe archway ahead. Turn left and jump to the next floating stone. Quickly jump (before the stone sinks) to grab a ladder. Climb to the top.
Turn and jump off the ledge. Now use the grapple to grab the ring on the ceiling. Swing over to the other side. Wait for the fire emitter to go off then drop down to get a large medipack. Then run over to the right and jump to the opposite stone ledge to get another large medipack. Jump into the alcove on the right and collect artifact #4. Return to the top of the ladder and continue on to the next area.
In a cut scene, we see Lara enter a room with Natla flying from above. She survived the drop to the lava somehow. Natla screams at Lara (for shooting the Scion), and says that she has waited for this moment for thousands of years!
Natla: Run into the passage until you come to a large chamber. On the left you will find some shotgun ammo and three SMG clips. In the first part of the fight you need to target Natla's wings. This is the only vulnerable part of her, ... for now. Start shooting at them, jumping side to side to avoid the fireballs she hurls! Sometimes, Natla will fly down and try to kick Lara. Simply can press the "crouch" button to duck and avoid her. To escape the widespread attack of her fireballs, simply stay in the middle of it. When she aims straight at Lara, evade it with a roll to the left or the right. Shoot her wings to bring her down to earth (if you want, you can use the mini SMGs to speed up this part). When half of her health bar is down, the ensuing cut scene plays and we see Lara approaching Natla. It shows the glowing crystal on Natla's back. Natla then grabs Lara and tells her that she cannot die!
Natla (part 2): Now that Natla is on the ground, she will stand between any of the two columns of the arena, sending energy bolts Lara's direction. See the two bars at the top right of the screen? The yellow one is the "health" bar. The other (red bar) is Natla's "rage". When you constantly shoot at her, the bar starts to fill, ... causing Natla to become angry (use the normal pistols for this). She will then attack with her wing. Once she comes after you, wait for the right time to evade her attack. Use "bullet time" here. If done right, you'll bring Natla to her knees, ... giving you time to shoot the glowing crystal on her back. When moving toward Natla, press "crouch" to perform the bullet time. Then, once it's worked, you'll need to make her angry again and evade her attacks! Remember, you have to avoid those fireballs while you increase her rage, by jumping side to side. Press shoot to perform a head shot, ... but only when the red circle appears! Don't shoot in-between or it won't appear. After she's hit, she'll be stunned for a moment, then target the crystal on her back and blast it.
Repeat this until Natla is weakened and her health drops to zero, ... an interactive cut scene follows. Press the right buttons to save Lara. After Natla falls dead, Lara climbs upon the fallen pillar. Then, in another cut scene, we see Lady Croft jump into the water and make her escape.
