Tomb Raider ...

The upcoming reboot is a big step for the Tomb Raider franchise as it tries to re-invent itself. The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and is a huge departure from past Tomb Raider titles, venturing into an entirely new realm. The reboot is set to show a weaker and less experienced Lara Croft, as Square Enix and CD hope that it will breathe new life into the game. A new survivalist aspect will be added to the reboot, with players needing to scavenge for food and water in order to keep Lara alive. The island locales will offer an open-world structure, rather than the level based progression in previous Tomb Raider titles. The game sees young Lara Croft shipwrecked on an island, rather than exploring tombs of her own volition. As a result, the player can expect a more refreshing and varied narrative than what they'd seen before in Tomb Raider games. The character of Lara will evolve over the course of the game, allowing her to tame parts of the island that may have been previously out of her reach. The game will be a great deal more intense compared to past entries in the series. It's primarily about pure survival on the mysterious island. And since the game will contain a great deal more violence, realistic violence, it is almost guaranteed to be rated 'M' for Mature. With motion capture technology at the helm, the Tomb Raider reboot will see a much smoother presentation than before and have a much darker tone and aesthetic to it. How it is received by fans and the gaming world remains to be seen. The game is to be released in the fall of 2012.

Halo 4 ...

Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that's shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. The game begins where the last one leaves off. 343 Industries is now in charge of the Halo series since Bungie severed its ties with Microsoft this last year. Since the announcement of the confirmation of the making of Halo 4, the studio immediately returned to work in continuing Master Chief's story. The teaser trailer reveals that Master Chief is coming out where he was left at the end of Halo 3. So, Halo 4 will pick up where Halo 3 had ended. It is believed that Halo 4 will be completed and released by the fall of 2012.

Max Payne 3 ...

The award-winning Max Payne franchise put players in the role of Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family. The latest installment delivers more of the classic elements and hyper-intense action that fans have come to love, while moving the story of Max in a new direction. Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out. The third installment in the Max Payne franchise is not the traditional kill-them-all game, but it takes you into a more realistic world. Like in real-world, you can carry only a single 2-handed weapon and two 1-handed weapons. And, unlike other games, you would be able to see the weapons on your body during both cut scenes and gameplay. You would be living in an environment that can be destroyed and thus seems more natural and real.

Mass Effect 3 ...

Mass Effect 3 is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Mass Effect 3 will mark the third and final chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy of video games. The story will revolve around saving Earth from the Reapers by rallying civilizations of the galaxy together. After discovering that all intelligent life in the galaxy was about to be eradicated by an artificial lifeform known only as The Reapers in Mass Effect, super-soldier Commander Shepard went on to sabotage their plan and rise through the ranks to become one of the biggest representatives of the human race. While the harbinger of the Reapers, a ship-sized being called Sovereign had been destroyed, his awakening of the massive Reaper horde on the edge of space was not stopped. The final moments of Mass Effect were not really climactic -- more of a warning with Shepard stating that the real fight would continue now that the Reapers were making their way towards civilization. Since Mass Effect 2 did little to advance this particular plot, fans couldn’t have been blamed for feeling somewhat cheated (if they wanted a lot of plot-progression). Aside from endorsing a vast array of Citadel boutiques, Mass Effect 2 was essentially the personal story of Shepard looking out for human settlers whilst assembling a super-team from a variety of species. The VGA announcement trailer for Mass Effect 3 put off any notions that BioWare had forgotten about Shepard’s foreboding warning at the end of ME, depicting Earth under full assault from the Reapers.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss ...

Uncharted: Golden Abyss sounds like it should be great, but even with the original voice actors reprising their roles, luscious visuals, and plenty of opportunities to run like crazy from exploding buildings, somthing is missing. The game starts out taking place before the events of the original Uncharted, when Drake is hired by his old friend Jason Dante to uncover the secrets of a Central American jungle. Cue an amazing discovery, a mystery to unravel, and a love interest in the form of archaeologist Marissa Chase, and you've got yourself the beginnings of a great Uncharted narrative. However, it all starts to unravel rather quickly, becoming predictable fare with just a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Despite its problems, Golden Abyss succeeds in delivering some intense, entertaining action and combat. It's not quite the full-blown Uncharted experience on the move that you might have hoped for, but it's close.

Star Wars: The Old Republic ...

Star Wars: The Old Republic is an upcoming massive multiplayer online role-playing game based in the Star Wars universe. Currently in development by BioWare Austin and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, the game was first announced on October 21, 2008, at a special press event. "Star Wars: The Old Republic" is one of the biggest games on the video game horizon. The sci-fi MMORPG will represent BioWare's first attempt at creating a massive multiplayer online game, but it will also build upon its classic single-player RPG "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic". In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players will explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their personal story and determining their path down the light or dark side of the Force.

Battlefield 3 ...

Battlefield 3 is an upcoming installment in the long-running Battlefield video game series, and the direct sequel to Battlefield 2. Its lead platform is the PC. Battlefield 3 will feature the maximalist combined arms battles that made the series popular across single-player, co-operative and multiplayer modes. It will reintroduce several elements absent from the Bad Company games, including fighter jets, the prone position and 64-player battles on PC, while consoles will support 24 players. A new animation system will allow players to "drag fallen comrades into safety and mount weapons on almost any part of the terrain." The destructible environments of DICE's Frostbite engine will also be in use. Maps set in Paris, Tehran, Sulaymaniyah and New York have been confirmed. As a whole the game will cover urban streets, metropolitan downtown areas, and open landscapes suited to vehicle combat.

Batman: Arkham City ...

Batman: Arkham City is the upcoming sequel to action-adventure stealth video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, based on DC Comics' Batman for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It is being developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics. The story for Arkham City takes place about eighteen months after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp hires psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. The events of the game are set in motion when Two-Face, seeking to gain status among the inmates and other villains outside the city, devises a plan to publicly execute Catwoman. Batman decides for both the safety of Gotham and of his past relationship with Catwoman that he must stop the execution by entering Arkham City himself.

Gears of War 3 ...

Gears of War 3 is the conclusion to one of the most memorable and celebrated sagas in video games. Jacinto, the last human city, has been destroyed. The Locust Horde has pushed the stranded remnants of humanity towards the brink of extinction, and a fearsome new enemy has risen, threatening to destroy them both. The story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad comes to an explosive conclusion in Gears of War 3. Developed by Epic Games exclusively for Xbox 360, the third person shooter plunges you into a harrowing tale of hope, survival, and brotherhood. In Gears of War 3, fight on as Marcus Fenix, the grizzled war hero and leader of Delta Squad. Eighteen months after the fall of the last human city, the war against the Locust rages on. Meanwhile, deep beneath the surface, a fearsome new threat is infecting the planet from within. With survivors scattered and civilization in ruins, time is running out for Marcus and his comrades as they fight to save the human race.

Hitman: Absolution ...

Next in the series from Square Enix, "Hitman Absolution" follows Agent 47, a cold blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth. The player takes Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows them to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy. It's both a familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman games. Boasting a cinematic story, distinctive art direction and highly original game design, the game combines much-loved classic gameplay with completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise. Hitman: Absolution is scheduled for a 2012 release. Until then, the assassin remains in the shadows.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations ...

In the latest entry to the Assassin’s Creed series, Revelations takes players on a new adventure through the City of Constantinople, playing as the legendary characters Altaïr, Ezio and Desmond. The game continues Desmond’s story in the modern day following the events of Brotherhood, providing narrative-fueled puzzle sequences in a safe mode called “The Black Room.” In this area, players unlock personal lost memories of Desmond giving more back-story to the game. For those looking to test their skills online, Ubisoft promises improvements to the multiplayer game. They will be adding refined and expanded gameplay with more modes, more enthralling maps and new characters. The addition of the hookblade, ziplines, and bomb crafting also add new variations of gameplay.

Crysis 2

Crysis 2Natural disasters have pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. Now, aliens have arrived to finish the job. Crysis 2 puts you on the front line of mankind's last desperate fight for survival as the hit PC shooter spawns a sequel on consoles. Crysis 2 does an admirable job of living up to the original's reputation of sheer technical prowess. This sequel looks great and plays that way too. The jungle is now of the urban variety--New York City to be precise. Your mission requires you to do something no military or paramilitary force has been able to do: stop the aliens. Don a futuristic Nanosuit and battle a relentless, highly intelligent alien enemy that's ravaged New York City and won't stop there. Harness all the incredible powers of your suit to survive. If you go down, mankind's hopes go down with you.

Portal 2

Crysis 2Portal 2 is an accessible, daring and clever adventure into the eccentric world of Aperture Science. The first-person action-puzzle-platforming game tests the player's ability to think and act creatively. As you journey through the massive Aperture facility, it becomes clear that "Portal 2" does not merely come after "Portal". Instead, it radiates outward from its predecessor, simultaneously illuminating the world that gave rise to Portal and continuing the adventure that began there. The sense of novelty may be diminished, but the thrill of exploration and puzzle-solving is still intoxicating, and it's amazing how Portal 2 manages to tell a better story with disembodied voices and spherical robots than most games can with full-on humans. The game is immensely appealing, laugh-out-loud funny, and a thoroughly satisfying sequel. You can find the game on X-box 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC.

Killzone 3

Crysis 2The war for planet Helghan may be over, but the battle has just begun in Killzone 3. Emperor Visari is dead, and the two most powerful men on Helghan will struggle for control. Your chances for victory are gone - now it's all about survival. Stare down incredibly long odds as you fight the Helghast army with supplies that are limited and reinforcements that are non-existent. Battle in levels that are up to ten times bigger than Killzone 2's, complete with increased vehicular combat and more varied enemy AI. Feel the full impact of battle with an enhanced game engine and dynamic sound that plunge you even deeper into the action. Like its predecessor, Killzone 3 is immediately striking for its gorgeous landscapes and glowing lighting, which provide a hostile, not-quite-familiar backdrop to the heart-pounding first-person firefights that often occur on the planet of Helghan. But to dismiss this sequel as a mere visual showcase would be a disservice to the core action, which maintains the excellence that distinguished Killzone 2. When it comes to capturing the madness of larger-than-life planetside battles, few games do it better.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Black Ops Call of Duty: Black Ops is set largely during the 1960s and takes you to Cold War hot spots such as Cuba, Russia, and Vietnam. You are an elite covert operative, and your globe-trotting adventures form pieces of a puzzle that your mysterious captors are trying to put together by interrogating you. Each trip into the field is a memory, and the missions slowly come together to build momentum as each interrogation cut-scene puts another piece of the puzzle in place. It's not very original, but it gives a coherent context to the action. A few strong characters and dramatic moments give the story some genuine intrigue. The blurry edges of your consciousness conceal information that must come to light, and the erratic visual effects and eerie audio echoes that accompany your interrogations sometimes bleed into your mission memories. This creates a great tone of uncertainty that plays out in often surprising and satisfying ways. Your interrogation-fueled flashbacks are not limited to the linear flow of time, thereby allowing your missions to cover a wide variety of geography and gameplay. A dramatic breakout from a brutal Soviet prison is one early highlight, and later missions feature frontline conflicts, urban firefights, and mountainous incursions. Call of Duty: Black Ops lives up to the pedigree that the series has earned, giving players a great new shooter to enjoy just in time for the holidays.

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed: BrotherhoodAssassin's Creed: Brotherhood. is the third entry in the franchise, and it once again places you in the shoes Desmond Miles, who is going through his genetic memories to relive the lives of his assassin ancestors. While the game will include parts where you'll directly control Desmond, the bulk of the game has you playing AC2's hero (and Desmond's long-deceased ancestor), Ezio Auditore. And while AC2 ended with Ezio in a position of power, Brotherhood turns this around quickly, forcing him to fight for his very life and build up a new society of assassins in the city of Rome. The bulk of the gameplay is very similar to AC2. Players still use Ezio to lithely jump around the environment, scaling any and every surface around them in order to get the drop on enemies. All the stealth mechanics also return, with players using crowds, benches, and the bustling nature of the city to disguise themselves.

Underworld 4: Awakening (2012)

Lovers of butt-kicking women in tight leather outfits: rejoice! Kate Beckinsale is officially returning to the world of vampires and werewolves for the fourth installment of the “Underworld” movie series. She will once again play Selene, vampire warrior, in the new film. For centuries, two races have evolved hidden deeply within human culture; the aristocratic, sophisticated Vampires known as Death Dealers, and the brutal werewolves, the Lycans. To humanity, their existence is no more than a whisper of a myth. But to each other, they are lifelong mortal rivals, sworn to wage a secret war until only one race is left standing. In the original 'Underworld,' released in 2003 and directed by Len Wiseman, Selene's job was killing Lycans (werewolves). She discovers the truth about the centuries-long war between vampires and werewolves and ends up on the run. Three years later, 'Underworld: Evolution' featured more uncovered secrets, and more vampire/Lycan encounters of the bloody kind. In this installment, human forces discover the existence of the Vampire and Lycan clans and a war to eradicate both species commences. The vampire warrioress Selene leads the battle against humankind.

Riddick: Dead Man Stalking  (2012)

Coming from Universal Pictures, Vin Diesel reprises his role of Riddick and will be directed by David Twohy in this sequel tentively titled "Riddick: Dead Man Stalking". The movie will also star Joel William Gonzales and Karl Urban. Diesel portrayed the outlaw/hero in two previous films, "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick". Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Star Trek 2 (2012):

Coming from Paramount Pictures in June of 2012 (hopefully), is the sequel to the 2009 hit movie "Star Trek". The movie will star Chris Pine (as Captain Kirk), Zachary Quinto (as Spock), Karl Urban (as Dr. McCoy), Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin. According to J.J. Abrams, the time travel-alternate reality concept used in the previous film was a deliberate ploy to enable a reboot for new sagas/films: "The idea, now that we are in an independent timeline, allows us to use any of the ingredients from the past - or come up with brand-new ones - to make potential stories." Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman explained that the dilemma for the sequel was whether to pit the crew against another villain, or to have an "exploration sci-fi plot where the unknown and nature itself is somehow an adversary," like in "Star Trek" (1966).

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises,” the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle (Catwoman); Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox. It has since been revealed that Matthew Modine, Joey King and Tom Conti have all joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. Matthew Modine will be playing a character named “Nixon”, but no other details were given.

The following should be considered a spoiler for the time being. Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" will see the return of 'The League of Shadows'. Since the League of Shadows is back, that means Talia Al Ghul will also appear as the movie's villain. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a cop working for Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Marion Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a member on the board for Wayne Enterprises. Blake works on special assignment for Gordon, while Tate will aid Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) on his "philanthropic endeavors for Gotham", stepping into his father's shoes. When Cotillard was first rumored for The Dark Knight Rises, many fans speculated that the actress was being sought to play Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson in Batman Begins) who is both a foe and love interest of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Talia also has ties to the villain Bane (played by Tom Hardy), which has only furthered speculation that Talia would be a logical addition to TDKR. The film is scheduled to be coming to theaters July 20, 2012.

Cleopatra (2013):

Angelina Jolie Angelina Jolie has signed to star as Egypt's famous Queen Cleopatra, a role first played by the late Elizabeth Taylor. So, the question is: Who will portray Marc Antony? Unlike the 1963 version with Taylor and Richard Burton, the forthcoming Scott Rudin production will focus less on Cleopatra's seductive powers in the bedroom and more on her savvy approach to business and politics. Jolie has had some experience in acting as a queen, for she has played a queen in the movie "Alexander". So it is reasonable that she portray Cleopatra in this movie. The Egyptian queen Cleopatra, a firm ruler and military tactician, embarked on a ruthless rise to power. She twice married brothers, killing each of them as well as a sister. Romantic alliances with the much-older Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Marc Antony help her solidify power, but her dalliance with Antony undoes both of them. The infamous 1963 historical epic with Rex Harrison and Richard Burton was hugely expensive and considered a flop but was ultimately nominated for best picture and won four Oscars. This version is believed to be based on author Stacy Schiff's book "Cleopatra: A Life." The author looked into the life of Cleopatra beyond the glamour of being the last queen of Egypt. Schiff explored the life and myths of her marriages, assassinations, sexual exploits, seductions and politics. The movie will, of course, be compared to Elizabeth Taylor's "Cleopatra" in 1963, which nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox and grossed very little at the box office. David Fincher is set to direct the film.

Fantastic Four Reborn (2013)

20th Century Fox confirmed that it will reboot its "Fantastic Four" franchise by the announcement of the hiring of Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to oversee the project. The 2005 "Fantastic Four" and the 2007 sequel "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" were directed by Tim Story. Variety points out, "Fox controls Fantastic Four in perpetuity -- as long as it continues making the films. Fox has the same arrangement on Marvel Comics properties X-Men, Daredevil and Silver Surfer. Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement."

'Fantastic Four: Reborn' is believed to be the working title for the upcoming 20th Century Fox film intended to kick-start the action franchise that stalled after 2007's "Rise of the Silver Surfer." Ever since it was announced that Fox was rebooting their "Fantastic Four" franchise and scrapping old cast members for new ones, the news surrounding the reboot has been a bit lackluster. There have been rumors about casting and other possible titles that had gone nowhere, not to mention the fact that it seems Fox made their reboot announcement without even letting the former four, Ioan Gruffud, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis in on the news beforehand.

Ever since the first two films, there was talk about whether Fox made a mistake in not making use of the advancements in CGI to better portray th Thing. At the time, they knew there was no practical way to show a man stretching, a man on fire who could fly and a woman turning invisible through practical means. Those effects had to be done with computer graphics. Yet, they decided to put Michael Chiklis in an orange suit to play the Thing. I can understand 20th Century Fox's desire to make a practical effect, but in this case I believe it was the wrong decision to make. After his performance as The Thing in the previous "Fantastic Four" movies, the people at the studio finally realized the suit that he had to wear was a problem, in that it stood out when compared to the other CG-heavy super powers on screen (i.e.
"The Incredible Hulk", "Spider-Man"). Word is the studio is planning on making The "Thing" a complete CGI character in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, as a source inside the Fox special effects department working on the film (titled "Fantastic Four Reborn") said that The Thing will be 100% computer graphics.

Tomb Raider reboot ....

At the moment, this film is in the early production phase, Graham King, best known for producing "The Departed" and "The Town," has purchased, through his production company, GK Films, the film rights to"Tomb Raider". They will reboot the action-adventure film franchise, aiming for a possible 2013 release. They are reportedly shooting for not just one film, but a series.

GK Films acquired the film rights from interactive entertainment company, Square Enix Ltd. Senior Vice President, Grey Rembert will oversee the project for GK Films. The movie will be produced by Graham King and Tim Headington. They plan to create daring new adventures for a young Lara Croft.

Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have been hired by GK Films to pen the screenplay for the new Tomb Raider movie. Fergus and Ostby are known for their script writing for "Iron Man", "Children Of Men" and "Cowboys & Aliens" (July, 2011). About the new film in the Tomb Raider film franchise, producer Graham King said, "We are very excited to be rebooting what is already hugely successful film franchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon. Mark and Hawk's clear sensibilities of action and emotion are perfect for the direction we are taking this franchise."

Fergus and Ostby stated that they intend to write an origin story for the character of Lara Croft. Paramount Pictures made two movies, starring Angelina Jolie, based on the daredevil archaeologist Lara Croft in 2001 and 2003. The films grossed a worldwide total of $432 million at the box office. With an origin story now in the works, who will they get to play a younger Lara?

Iron Man 3 ....

Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, this film is expected in theaters May 3 of 2013. It will be the third installment of the "Iron Man" series. The movie will again star Robert Downey, Jr. as billionaire Tony Stark (Iron Man). Don Cheadle will likely return as James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (War Machine). In a May 2010 interview, director Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two Iron Man films, revealed his desired Iron Man 3 villain. "[We've] got to do the Mandarin," Favreau said of the next Iron Man baddie, a martial-arts expert who has superhuman powers that can tear apart Iron Man's suit with his bare hands. "The problem with the Mandarin is that the way it's depicted in the comic books, you don't want to see that. He has 10 magical rings — that just doesn't feel right for our [franchise]."

Why is Walt Disney Pictures distributing Iron Man 3? Prior to Disney's purchase of Marvel in 2010, Paramount Pictures had a distribution deal for a slate of six Marvel Studios'-produced films. On October 18, 2010, Disney announced they will buy Paramount out of the final two films of its original deal. These two films are The Avengers and Iron Man 3

Total Recall ....

A remake of the 1990 sci-fi film, the story shows us a world of the future in which people can buy a 'perfect dream' vacation. The film was based on the Philip K. Dick story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" and this remake will follow the original story more closely.

The film stars Colin Farrell in the lead role. Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel will be the romantic leads (with Beckinsale as his wife Lori, and Biel as the resistance fighter Melina), while Bill Nighy has been tapped for the role of Quatto. The cast also includes Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston as Vilos Cohaagen. The movie is aiming for an August 2012 release.

Avatar 2 ....

"Avatar 2" is set to be in theaters: December, 2014. Again, it will be directed by James Cameron. A sequel to the 2009 blockbuster, the Avatar sequel will take place after the events of the first movie. Cameron promises the movie will deliver the same visual and emotional impact as the original sci-fi smash.

"In the second and third films, which will be self-contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of Avatar's visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters," Cameron told Daily Variety. "I'm looking forward to returning to Pandora," The director also added that in this second Avatar story will more focus on the beauty of Pandora Sea. The first film focused on the beauty of Pandora's forests and the director was thinking of providing something different from the previous movie.

"My focus in the second movie was to create a different environment in the Pandora, and I will be more focus on oceans in Pandora that will be equally rich, unique and imaginative, but it is not just a rain forest, we will see more than that," said James. The plan will be to re-release Avatar in August this year by adding six-minute scene that has never been seen before. As James told the Los Angeles Times "We're working to complete an additional six minutes of this film to be released again."

Sam Worthington is certain to re-join a sequel. There has been no definite information when Avatar 2 will be released, so far according to rumors circulating Avatar 2 will appear in theaters around December of 2014. Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman called the Avatar sequel the studio's highest priority. "Avatar is not only the highest-grossing movie of all time; it created a universe based on the singular imagination and daring of James Cameron, who also has raised the consciousness of people worldwide to some of the greatest issues facing our planet," Gianopulos and Rothman told Daily Variety. "We had no greater priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of Avatar." More than ten years in the making, Avatar was the highest grossing film of all time and winner of eleven Oscars including Best Picture. An estimated $300 million was spent on the making of the film.
